I've been playing alot of Texas hold'em NL home games recently and I've been losing. I watch alot of hold'em and I usually can figure out what a certain pro is thinking; when there playing a hand and I figure out why they folded or bet. I can tell what type of player I'm playing against usually.

I can't seem to transfer what I know about hold'em in my head and what I watch on Tv into games that I play.

Here's the likely scenario of my home games. I tend to play against loose players who love to call with anything. And players that tend to bet flop, turn, river even when they don't have the best hand.

I play tight preflop.
A. Flop comes and I don't hit it. I check, get raised. I fold. They sense weakness it seems
B. Flop comes and I hit middle pair. I bet, get raised, go all-in. Usually have worse hand.

The Blind structure is once around the table the blinds double. Start off with 5/10, then 20/40, 40/80, etc...We start off with $600 in chips. Is tight not the right style for this type of blinds? I don't like to limp, should I be limping preflop with average hands?

I can't remember the last time I called someone else's bet with the best hand. It just seems like either I flop nothing and get bet out or I'm constantly calling with the worse hand. I keep telling myself before the game begins that I'm going to trap. I'm waiting for a flop to come that I hit big, check it then wait for someone to bet. But I never seem to hit a flop big.

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
Wow, a lot of points

1. Ignore what you see on TV, poker on TV is more for entertainment value then learning the game, if you want to learn the game read the FTR Sng and MTT forums and pick up some books

2. The blind structure you play is very very fast, and you cannot play tight preflop, you have to play aggressive positional poker once you hit level 3, with this blind structre if you have a good push flop strategy you are golden.
BTW this blind structure is very hard because you have no idea when the blinds increase as it depends on the number of players getting knocked out in this orbit. If you have any affect on it try to push for a slower blind structre based on time or number of hands

look at www.homepokertourney.com for decent blind structures
