hello, everyone i would appreciate some advice on my home game skills.
every friday night we have a family home game, and i cant for the life of me win anymore. i just cant figure these people out. i know most play pretty good hands but all the drawing for flushes and straights is absurd.
i am a pretty tight aggresive player but these people dont seem to notice.
before i got ahead of myself let me give you a run back of a hand last friday.
i had AKo and i raised all-in about 100 chips, one player folded but another called with 108d. guess what happened she hit a 10 and byebye i went. how can she possibly call 100 chip raise with that garbage.
oh but thats not all and this is no joke. later on that night in a new game i had KQs and raised 20 chips and got reraised another 20 chips (by my wife) now the player who called 100 chip raise earlier with 108d folded.
ok who cares right but at the end of the hand which i won with my kings, the player who folded before flop turned over her AKo and said damn i would of won.
how is this possible to play against, i mean come on a 100 chip raise call with 108d but on a 40 chip raise fold AKo. am i just really stupid or does this not make any sense to you guys and girls either.
any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me, the STAKES aren’t that high and nor is the competition.
It’s equivalent to playing Scrabble, Monopoly, on a Friday eve.
It’s for the company aspect of it.
A social gathering affair, correct?
I sense you may take this more seriously than your cohorts.
If that’s what it was designed to be, a social gathering, just go with it man, enjoy the company.
Still uptight about it,,,
BREAK OUT SOME TWISTER!
If ALL else fails, SLOW-PLAY!

thanks for replying, yes true it is a family game, but for most of the players its very competitive. i guess you could be right about slowplaying but then that allows more players limping with crappy cards. we play every friday not just for fun but for experience. most of my home game players play in the local tournaments as well.

You don't slowplay preflop, therefore I don't see how worrying about crappy cards limping is a problem. If you're going to slow play, make it 5 cards hands that you know won't lose. That way when they're calling you down or rereaising you trap them into a lot of chips.
What you want to do is continue to make people pay to beat you, you will win in the long run. Also, you didn't say how much each stack had when you went all in with your AKo, you only said your stack. Later in a tournament if I have a huge chip lead over a player and he pushes, I'll practically call with anything since I have a decent chance of knocking him out. So while in a normal situation, calling with T8s is not the right choice but different situations call for different tactics. If I had a commanding lead over you I wouldn't have a problem calling with it since I have a chance of knocking you out.

Also AKo isn't a huge favorite against any hands that don't have an ace or a king. I can call with suited trash if the stacks are deep enough and I can justify it with post-flop play. You simply need to keep playing good cards, start getting reads and start slamming the best hand down their throats (Also, don't pay off draws when they hit). Consider making it more expensive preflop.
There's a guy in our home game (a friendly one) who believes he's the most unlucky person alive. He isn't. He just playes good cards and always assumes that they are best post flop even if they miss completely. He always complains about AK never "holding up" and I laugh. AK doesn't hold up, it draws to great hands but it isn't made preflop.

Precisely.
