Post subject: This happened to me at FOXWOODS

I was playing in a $80SNG with 6 people left. This guy goes ALL in. something like 800, I was in the BB so it was only 400 to call. I had A9 of clubs, so I called. I turned my cards over since we were Heads up. He left his facing down, which then the dealer turned his up. He shows J8 of clubs. The flop comes 7 9 J rainbow. turn was an A, then the river was a 10. So this guy flops a Straight, but thought his pair was beat by my pair of Aces. No one at the table really saw it. The guy who flopped the straight takes off and leaves. He thought he was done. the dealer starts to push the chips to me, when another guy at the table says Hey that guy flopped a straight..CHAOS now. we have to stop the tourney because one guy is saying their my chips because he left, another guy is saying we need to put his chips in his seat, and blind him off. And I'm saying just give me the chips.
Anyways we get the tourney dirrector to come over, she finally rules that the chips should be mine because the guy was going to muck his hand, but the dealer turned it over. Then this other guy at the table starts getting really loud about how the chips should go to the other player and the cards speak, and he should be blinded off. WELL she gets her Boss and he comes over.
Well turns out Loud mouth was right, the chips went over to missing players seat, and we had to post his blinds. And Chip him off.
I thought It was an interesting ruling, I think it was the right ruling, but I would have liked the 1700 chips in the middle of the pot.
What do you guys think??

In my limited experience in live cards rooms, that's the opp's pot UNLESS he declared his hand as a pair of Js or physically mucked it. If he didn't then ship him the chips. Looks like they made the right call.
(And he didn't flop the straight. He flopped top pair, rivered the straight.)

I play a lot at foxwoods, and most of the time, the loud guy gets his way.
By the rules, this is kind of gray. If a player leaves in the middle of a hand in a ring game, he basically folds. However, if you fold to the big blind in a tourney, and he's not in his seat, he still wins the pot.
If I'm the director, I rule it the same way, but you could make a case otherwise. You can do other things too. In your place I would have yelled at the guy for disagreeing with the floor and told them to get on with the game. "The floor made a ruling, stop holding the game up!!"

Under no circumstances should the dealer have turned the guys hand over, it is the players responsibility to do that. And you should have been awarded the pot just on the general principle that the guy was too stupid to read his own hand!!!

In tournaments the hands have to be turned over when there's an AI. If the player wont do it, someone has to.
In a ring game it's different, but in tourneys, that's just the rule. It's like in ring games you can turn your hand over while the hand is going on, but in tourneys you can't even say what you have until the betting is over.

The guy who left should be awarded the pot no matter what. His hand played while he was still there and he won. If he had come back to the table for any reason he could have continued to play.
He can't possibly win any future hands until he returns though. Even on his blind, his hand should be declared dead at the completion of the dealing of the poket cards.

Funny unrelated story.
Casino's are now running a table game called "Texas Hold'em Bonus". Well I was watching my friend play and some stranger totally misread his hand.
Dealer had 2 pair but stranger had full boat. Stranger obviously could not read his hand and dealer started to take his chips. So I jump in from the rail. Pit boss is called and sure enough they pull his cards out and pay him off. He even got the FH bonus.
Nice guy too, he tried to give me a cut.
Even more funny, I was pretty drunk which was why I was watching and not playing. That night was more dedicated to "bachelor party" related activities than gambling.

haha what if some crazy shit happens in the next few hands and he ends up going out in like 3rd 
not sure what the casino would do with his prize money then, do they take down contact info and stuff when you sigh up? i have no clue really.

That hand is live and the TD acted correctly.
The dealer should not have flipped the cards over for the player. Ever. Under any circumstances.
