I have 3 choices...

1/2 limit talbes.
$100NL MTT.
$120NL SnG.

I'm thinking that NL would be more fun, so i'm thinking of the MTT/SnG, and leaning to the MTT...

I figure there should be tons of dead money either one.

Thoughts?

ps: This would be my first time in a casino

Hey, first post.

I only have experience at the 1/2 tables there, but I like the idea of SnG's for live play, less time-commitment...depends what else you're there to do. At limit, I always get ansy after a while.

Also, don't know how long you're going to be there, but as of a couple months ago they were having regular ~$30+something SnG qualifiers, prize = entry to ~$250+something MTT, which was held I think a couple times a week. Don't know if that interests you.

Their tables are on the small side and seat 9. Cardroom is not huge, but fairly active. You're probably right about the dead money -- I don't think Tampa is the #1 destination for the best of the best poker players.

Bonus: the bartenders are smoking hot. Have fun & good luck.

I live close enough to make it a trip (near Gainesville, FL)

I'm just going there to play poker, not for any other reason....

I'd be ok with just breaking even, but i'd really like to make some good profit on the trip, that would just make my day =)

Thats crazy, I'm in Gainesville. I'd even go as far as to say outrageous! Anyway, if you can post back with how you fared and/or what types of players you encountered at the SnG or tourney, I 'd be really interested to know what you thought. Have a great time.

Ohhh I went there. Well, it was one of them.. I forgot which Hard Rock in Florida (I was staying in Fort Lauderdale).

Anyway, if its your first time at a casino, you may want to just sit down at the 1/2 Limit just to get a feel of it all... and then enter the SnGs. The 1/2 limit is really, well... a crap shoot. On average, 6-8 people to a flop. Tons of tourists who were asking very basic poker questions.

The SNGs are fun since its really the only NL game in town... because of the gaming laws. Very very soft. The casino itself is really beautiful and there were great places to eat. Make sure to have fun!

The alcoholic drinks weren't comped... but they have nice cappucino if you are into it
Dealer: bencathers has two pair, Aces and Deuces
Dealer: Tbags has two pair, Kings and Jacks
Dealer: Tbags finished the tournament in 256th place
Tbags [observer]: another scumbag gets there on this site lol
