I'm going to a couple of Casino's this weekend to play some Poker. For my Birhtday. I have a set limit of what I'm going to spend based on whether or not I play in a Tournament or a Cash Game. Obviously I'm no Tom Dwan when it comes to Poker and Poker Knolwdge. I'm looking for any and all advice, tips, anything and everything that could be helpful, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

If you play the lowest NL games at a casino (which will probably be the 1/2 NL tables) the best advice I can give you is to be prepared for a grind. Tables are filled with terrible players, but the pace of the game is terribly slow compared to online.
I tilt so much when I play live because of the slow place alone. Being card dead in a live game is no fun and it can really aggravate you. You'll have idiots who are ordering from the waitresses when the action is on them ALL the time, which slows the game down even more.
If you're patient and a winning player though, you have a chance to book a nice win. If you're prone to tilt I would stay away from the live games. IMO play blackjack, craps or roulette or something if you're trying to have fun.
Happy birthday btw

How much Fun is grinding on your Birthday.
If your just looking for some fun and you would rather not patiently grind lower limit cash games. I would suggest playing a few low buy-in Tournaments that fit your spending limit. This way you know what your going to spend and wont be tempted to jump over your limits. Win or Lose, You can just have some fun playing poker.
Enjoy your Birthday and Best of Luck.

Live Poker Digest: Cardroom Basics & Trip Reports
and:
know what a string bet is, don't make the mistake
know that a chip thrown in isn't a raise unless the raise is verbalised
in fact, verbalise every action
don't ask or answer questions from other players when you're involved in a hand
don't take money you can't afford to (potentially) lose
etc.
also:
what roller said makes a lot of sense. I was talking to a drunk norwegian in a swedish casino after we'd both left our table. He was part of a stag party, they all had a clue (pot odds, bet sizing, etc) about poker, but he was down about 1k euro (one stack to me, but it was standard and he was relaxed about that - he wanted to kill a slowrolling turk tho..) and wasn't really having a great time. Be careful, and look out for your buddies too!

Thanks for the help everyone, keep it coming please. I'm not leaving until Thursday afternoon so all the help I can get will be greatly appreicated. I think I'm going to like the slow pace of the game when I get there. I thinkg and hope it will give me a chance to really think about what I can put my opponent(s) on and how good of a hand I have. I've done some reading on here and taking everyone's adivce. I haven't been on PStars for about a week still trying to soak in the knowledge. But I'm going for the fun of playing in a live game but I think I can do ok if I have a chance to really think. Thanks Everyone. Like I said keep it coming, it is appreciated.

Hey dude, the best thing you could probably do is watch others and follow. Skimming posts about etiquette and string bets and all that is okay, but cramming to learn everything about the live game is just gonna have you questioning everything you're doing instead of concentrating on the game itself. Just have fun, be polite and tip the dealer if you're playing cash. Everything else will follow. You're not going to grasp the live game in one night, so again, just chillax and have fun.

Hey, happy birthday and enjoy your weekend. As for playing live games, make sure you visit the little boys room before you sit at the table and don't drink any alcohol if you intend to win.
Everything that 4-of-a-Kind wrote above is very important. As a general rule don't do or say anything that could be interpreted as an action. Remember, knocking or tapping the table is a 'check' whether you like it or not. Pushing your cards about can be seen as meaning you fold. Learn the etiquette and if you aren't sure keep your hands off the table and only say things you mean to do.

I was at the MGM Grand last year and was breaking every rule in the book, first and foremost being drunk. In one hand W/ JJ999 on the board I raised and villain(who was a girl) was spending a long time thinking about it.I told her I would call any raise and the dealer tells me that the statment was binding.Villain asks"So if I blow you all in you'll call?"I asked the dealer if her blow me statement was binding. He just smiled.By the way,I had the other 9.
