Was playing 1/2NL at Viejas today, and the table got down to 6 players. I asked for a reduced rake, the dealer called the floor, and the floor said "no". She walked away quickly before I could ask why.
This is the first time I've ever asked at a NL table. (I've never had the floor say "no" to a reduced rake at a limit table.)
So I told the dealer that I'm done because she denied my request, and left the table. I watched while I was cashing out, and the table ended up breaking.
They ended up losing a table instead of putting up with a reduced rake for a short while. There were plenty of people in the casino on a Friday afternoon; they would have added a player within a round or two. So why would the floor deny my request? Is there some nuance of a NL table that makes this a good decision for the casino?

I have never seen a reduced rake but I have seen the blinds reduced. I have played at a shorthanded table with only a BB. Thats not much but its something.

sorry dude but 6 handed is not shorthanded. no cardroom is going to reduce rake unless you have 5 or fewer players. you can make shitloads of money at 6max, and the casino knows it. most home games are 6max, are they not?

The cardrooms I've been to (gulf coast area) all reduce the rake at 6 players, if you ask.
