Well, the wonderful Potowatomi Bingo/Casino in Milwaukee finally has No-Limit. The poker room has been around for about a year, and it was strictly limit hold'em with one 7 Card Stud table, and a once a week Omaha and Pot Limit table. Well now they added a NL table with $3/$5 blinds. Although I can't play with those blinds, because don't have the bankroll needed to play that game, which correct me if I'm wrong $500. The minimum buy in is $200, which I could swing, but as much as I want to play Live holdem in a casino, I'm not sure if going in with the minimum would be a wise idea. Anyone think differently???

This is a true story. I'm not a paid actor. FTR does not guarantee any results. People can and do lose money when playing poker.

Not unless you just want to "Take a Shot". The Max buyin is also pretty important as the bigs can just run you over and the blinds/rake will eat you up pretty quickly. The NL game near me is 2/5 with $200 min and No max, which I don't like at all as guys were buying in for 4-5K. I "Took a Shot" and bought in for about the avg of 1K, and did pretty well but it was still nerve-racking having 1/3 of by BR in play, and I went in knowing I could lose that whole amount.

"Taking a shot" is just another excuse not to follow the BR management rules. Everytime you do this you are reinforcing a bad habit.

I wouldn't buy in for the minimum. Be patient and wait until you can buy in and not be a short stack. Please let us know when you do decide to try it out. We need to add some casinos outside of California and Nevada to our http://www.flopturnriver.com/casinos_la_overview.html Brick and Mortar Reviews.

In general I agree completely, and that's really the only time I've done it to that degree. It was the only NL offered there, so it was either that or nothing. I decided to forego the BR rules on this one occassion and accepted the fact I could lose it all. However, I would also would say moving up to a higher SNG after winning a few lower ones is "Taking a Shot", which I don't think is necessarily a bad idea as long as you don't overdo it.

I was in Kansas City recently and at the Ameristar Casino they had $1/$2 NL, which I so wanted to play, but was there for a wedding and didn't have time. Hopefully Potowatomi will open up a smaller NL table.
