I'll be there from this Thursday evening for about two weeks or so. It's only Tuesday and I'm already stoked for my arrival.
I know that there are at least a few FTR members who play there on occasion, so I'll dedicate this thread to those people. This can be used as a meet-up during my time there or after.
Please hurry Thursday! Today is like Christmas Eve Eve to me!

lol I think I called him that (without the extra 'ee' ) once in the past, but I'm pretty sure it was to make fun of him.
I'll do it again tonight just for you!

Great cash games all day. Prime time is when you would expect it to be and this place in particular is busier than most others.
Today sucked. I was tired from travel and lack of sleep over the last two nights. Dropped one BI after about 3 hours - not a lot but I was just not playing well overall.
My friend John wanted me to post his first two hands of the night:
22 and he raises to $6, someone makes it $25, Hero folds and a deuce hits the flop.
Second hand, he has AA in LP. Couple limpers, he raises to $15, shorty calls, button calls. Pot: $50
Flop: T52 rainbow
John checks
Shorty shoves for $67
Button calls
John makes it $180 and is pot fucked vs buttons TT.
I'll be back at it Friday night, probably around 3-4pm for many hours. If you want my cell # just PM me and then send me a text if you want to link up.

I hate pot building raises with small pp's like this mainly because it's tough to continue without hitting a set in a live game, and sometimes when you do, it's tough to extract maximum value. Not only that, the small raises are so easy to re-raise it just seems like a bad play altogether. Small pairs have so much value in a live game, it's a sucks to lose value like this. Limp/calling a raise seems like a much stronger play since you get in cheaper everyone always puts you on top pair anyways when you raise a set. That, or do a standard raise to 12-15 or w/e it is out there and maybe JJ doesn't feel the need to pump your ass and you flop your set anyways on an all-unders board for JJ.
Second hand, raising sucks. Flat the shove. Shoving isn't going to get called by a hand you beat. You can re-evaluate the turn since it's a dead pot, and if he wants to fire after you show strength by calling an over shove on the flop, you can choose to shut down.

Played for 5 hours - $350. I'd rather not explain how I lost $300 on my last hand.
Blah! @ RiverRock tomorrow morning for the biggest tournament of the month. Wish me luck!

are you even gonna be at edgewater tonight if you're at river rock playing the donkament? that thing probably won't end until 12 am ish if you go all the way.
we might go to edgewater anyway, but it's tempting to just go to river rock because it's infinitely closer to where we live.

my guesses:
1) biggest stack ever at a 1/2 live game
2) longest consecutive hours playing cash in a casino
3) biggest lost pot ever at a 1/2 game????
I'm hoping that my 3) is wrong!

Just woke up, feel a lot better.
Anyways, here are the three new personal records I set for myself last night at Edgewater:
1) Total monies spent at a casino: $220. Couple orders of dim sum and the rest on cranberry Grey Goose.
2) Largest downswing during a positive session: My watermark was $1700 and I left with $950. Total profit: $750. This was not my highest Live watermark though, highest was $2550 a month ago playing 1/2 at the same B&M.
3) Angriest in a public place: May have had something to do with the downswing/alcohol. I'm sort of proud but not completely. OK, here's what happened: It's around 2am, I see a flop with two players, I'm in the middle. First villain bets, I'm thinking, villain behind me says: If you raise I will call. I raise, villain behind me folds ?!?!?!?!?!?!? Pit boss is called over, doesn't say a word to the folder, is only telling me that I am in the wrong. Important note, I have been told not to angle by previous pit bosses on other nights. By this time I am standing up and letting everyone else in the room know that angling is allowed. "Don't worry, you can angle all you want tonight, it's OK!" Our table is surrounded, including the two other pit men. I keep going back and forth with this idiot. Eventually one of the other pit members steps in and says to the folder: "You cannot angle here. What you did was wrong and if you do it again you'll be removed." Not another word is spoken.

Wait... that was you? You had the mega stack of green chips HAHAHA I was in seat 1 at your table! you were playing good but then you donked off some of your chips the last hour of your session! I was standing behind watching for a bit (during the arguing between you and seat 10/seat 8) then I sat down in seat 1 when the asian guy moved to seat 10. I was only there for when you donked off your money at the end, after you left... the rest of the table was depressed because they said you were the only donater. I had the black Red Sox hat on with the brown hoodie. I should have texted you, just lost the number. The guy sitting to your left was one of the better korean players in the casino. funny stuff!

Yeah I was a huge donator the moment I sat down at that table. It took me a $600 loss to finally realize that there was no way I was going to be able to turn it around, I was too out of it. At least I had the discipline to leave when I did.
You're right, the last hour was horrible. I was not only embarrassed but my wallet took a slight hit as well. You should have saved my number man, text me, and told me to cool down!
I'll be back thursday, hit me up.

I might see you there Thursday. I'm the young white boy playing in the 5/5 PLO game. I tend to warm up w some 2/5 NL so I've probably run into you on the felt already.
I'm usually wearing a white or green+yellow hat- come introduce yourself if you see me.
I will also be there tonight if you decide to roll down.

I'll be there all week, including tonight, with TwoSmeets aka Keilah.
1/2NL, drop by and say hi! I'll be wearing a black dress shirt, glasses, probably seat 3 or 8.

Before the session Friday night I told my roomie that I guaranteed I would get to 1k.
Well, I got to $1009. As soon as I did, I walked over to get two racks in preparation of my cashing out. Next hand I am dealt KQs, raise to $9 (weakest raise ever because I have already told everyone at the table what I have just mentioned in this post). Girl on my left (tad spewy at this point) shoves for $49. I call HU and she doubles through with AQ. Next hand I am dealt 88. Same thing vs same girl this time pot is $200 and she has AK, - she wins. By the end of the orbit I leave with a stack of $830 and a profit of $630. GG
I'll be back again tonight obv and will be enjoying the UFC 97 in the meantime.
Bring it on Bitches!

Hardly ever. Maybe once or twice a month tops.
Biggest game is usually 5-5 PLO (which they are in the process of restructuring I heard)
Holdem 2/5 1k cap BI is best you're gonna get.
What does everyone think of the new room?

How many tables does the new room have?
What's the temperature like? (I know this is a weird question but I'm really hoping it's not always too cold like River Rock's room :P)
And wtf why doesn't it have a liquor license? So stupid.

I think 15-17 right now but can easily fit 20-25.
It is BOILING hot at the upper level (you'll know it when you see it) so dress in layers. They need A/C in there stat.
And yes needs more tv's and definitely a better cashier system ( lines are huge )

only 15-17? If it can't fit significantly more tables than the other room, why did they move it in the first place? I was hoping it would be way bigger.
Dress in layers, lol I love it

MD, not sure what your're talking about.
The new Edge room has no more than 15 tables, no upper floor, temperature is fine, and the cashier lines are never a problem. Are we talking about the same place? This room is in a different building than the Edgewater casino. These change took place over this past weekend.
-$400 for the session BTW
Really unhappy with my game overall.

Yes we are talking about the same place. Like I said, 15-17 tables as of RIGHT NOW, but can easily fit more.
Maybe they have fixed the temperature control, but the cashier lineups are still a concern when I'm there at least.
There is no upper ROOM, just the upper landing where 2/5 NL and 5/5 PLO is played,a la the Bellagio. Boiling hot up there since you are closer to the lights.

Thanks for the concern Fnord, I appreciate it.
My issue is with the patience. I've been an online grinder for two full years now and have only recently been playing live on a daily basis. I find myself succumbing to boredom and playing too many hands. I've had a lot of success playing this game and because of that - I feel like I can outplay my opponents on every hand.
I'm trying to come up with ideas to pass the time. Online I would grind from anywhere between 1 - 5 hours with not too much difficulty. Probably a big factor for that is the # of hands per hour. Live - I enjoy sessions that are at least 6 - 12 hours.
I've thought of bringing some reading material or an Ipod. More breaks might help, as I rarely take more than a 5 minute break during these half day events. Something else that I want to incorporate is a short work out routine, to help out with the stamina and focus.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very confident but maybe I'm too confident. I'm actually a tad cocky at the table sometimes.
Anyways, any advice regarding this situation is welcomed.

Here's a hand that I played yesterday, one which made me think of my recent posts in this Live forum as of late:
1/2
I'm fairly new to the table, maybe 30 minutes in. I've taken down one or two pots postflop uncontested and my stack is just over $200. SB is here on vacation and is obviously an amateur, with approx. $300 in front of him. BB is someone I've played with quite a bit. We know our games fairly well at this point and his stack is at a healthy $800 or so at this point. He has limped big pairs in the past from EP with the expectation that I'm going to raise with a very wide range on the Button. Anyways,
Few limpers
I raise from MP w/ to $15
Folds to SB who calls, BB calls, UTG shoves for $27 (I'm forced to call here), SB calls along with the BB.
Pot: $110 (one player all in)
Flop:
SB bets $20. His range and image looks a lot like any Jack, but I'm not concerned with him. BB calls. His range is pretty wide. We love to play pots against each other frequently, the guy on his left is a donk, and he's getting 6.5 to 1 on a call. We can safely put him on anything that connects with this flop in one shape or form.
Hero counts the pot ($150), counts his stack ($180), looks at this wet board in front of him, licks his chops at the SB, shoves, prays to 8 lbs 6 ounce baby Jesus.
Thoughts?

SPR is too low even in a 4 way raised pot. So i'd just grit my teeth and shove like you did ,hoping for nice-looking cards to show up on later streets. My guess is if you push or call a push with overpairs in live weak games, you'd be ahead at least 60% of the time.
HaHa, poker is a variance game and sometimes sooo brutal.
