.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} Hi,
This hand has been bothering me all day.
I was playing in a £10 one rebuy/add on at the G Casino in Manchester today. I had played few hands and had my raises and bets respected. In fact, I'd reraised from the SB and saw all 3 limpers insta fold. We were at 100/200 with a few minutes to go when I got dealt 10h Jh UTG and I called the extra 100 from my 4500 stack.
A guy in MP raised to 700 and because of my image, the fact that the cards can flop well, and that I'd decided to loosen up a bit as the week prior I was uber tight and predictable (and was on life support for most of the tourney as a result), I called the extra 500. And I could see that the raiser didn't like that too much.
The flop came Qs 7d 8h and he insta fired 900 out. I got the impression that he wanted to finish it there and then and that he was weak, either with a missed AK or a small pair. So with a gutshot and live cards I decided to play on as last week I'd just fold when I missed but then no one called when I fired out as they knew I'd hit. With 2500 in the pot and 3800 in my stack, I couldn't risk calling as if her fired again I'd have no fold equity and I couldn't raise him 2.5 - 3x as it would leave me pot committed so I moved all in.
My thinking was this: if my read was right, he could not call the all with air and the way I called the BB and then his reraise should have indicated that such a flop would hit me hard, such as 78 suited, JQ, QK and even any medium pair meant he would be way behind. Eventually, after tanking, he called and showed KA. I was still in good shape with 10 outs but none hit and I left the tourney.
I've since ran Pokerstove and from my play, assumed villain would assign me any pair, TQ+, AQ+ and 78s, 910s. That left him with just 37% equity and not in a good spot to call. In short, he was beating air only.
As a result, I'm convinced his call was a donk one but how was my play - from playing 10J to moving all in? As said, in the week previous, I was not utilising such connectors or EP and passed up some great opportunities and as I was being respected, felt the 10J was a fair play.

I'd say your error(s) were preflop. Just insta-muck the med. suited connector here. I mean if you're 5 or 6 handed and you have good image and table is nitty open to 2.5 or 3x. fold>>raise>>limp/call if you're utg. Really only a playable hand in later position.
Did you open limp at 50/100 or 100/200? Either isn't good but @ 200 where you're only 23 big blinds deep it's very bad.
Flop, great read and well played. Pretty sick call in his spot.. you've got enough dead money in the pot there to stack as you're getting about 40%. But there's really no reason to assume he'll call. Move on and make note of that player if you see him again and don't try to push him out once the pot is biggish.

Fold the 10 Js from first position unless you have a larger stack of 40+ BBs then put in a raise preflop and go from there.
However after calling his raise in your position I like the reraise all in.. I dont see how he makes that call with AK
