Has anyone noticed (about themselves or others) that the more you use the term "dominated" at or around the table, the more likely you are to consider any (and sometimes ALL) losses as either suckouts
or Bad Beats?
I have an aquaintance who is a VERY good player, and every time he shows down a hand he's "dominating" the other guys cards.
(we're talking A3 off vs KT suited, he's "dominating" KT... )
Every time the cards don't go his way, he's ranting for 30 minutes minimum about the odds and how he had the guy dominated and what a suckout and...
Yawn.
I understand the concept... (AA vs AK, counterfeiting outs etc...)
But it seems like some of the math guys (conscious math as opposed to intuitive) really love this one, and when it goes the other side of their little percentage slash mark, it drives them NUTS.
And the subtext of the rant is usually something to the effect of "how could anyone play XX when I clearly had them dominated"
Do I have a point? Maybe it's this... if you say it less often, you might tilt less when you lose with odds in your favour (DOMINATING!!!)

Wear leather to your next game and show him what being dominated really means.

since when is A3 vs KT dominating someone. if it was AK vs AT then he could say dominating, but not A3 vs KT.

A 3 does not dominate any hand, against A 2 it will split most likely... When poker players say dominating its usually when you have a better than a 70% chance to win. So for example AK dominates AJ and QQ dominates 88. Tell your friend to not be suprised when he loses when he's a 60% to 40% or a 55% to 45% favorite.

The common definition of dominated is a hand that has 3 outs or less. i.e. AK vs. AQ. The AQ can only hit a Q or runner cards to make a hand vs. AK.
