It's kind of fuzzy on their respective web sites. Anyone in the area know any good poker rooms around there? I'm there on a trip.

Damn there was someone on here that was playin at em but I cant remember his name. At one time there was talk of a detroit ftr gathering for all of us around there. Fnord I believe is originally from that area. I know there is a decent one in the area but the rake is (or at least was) charged by the half hour. I believe it was like 8dollar per half hour or maybe 4. WHatever it was I remember it was high. Im sure the name will come up.

There are 3: Greektown, Motorcity and MGM Grand.

I have only been to Greektown (once). They are supposed to have SNGs, but they do not have them on Saturday's. The limit games they rake the pot. The NL games they take rake by the hour (not exactly sure, because I played limit)

Old thread but I just got around to looking at the other forums on FTR

There's actually 4 casinos in the area, MGM, Greektown, MotorCity and Casino Windsor in Canada.

MGM does not have a poker room that I know of.

Motor City and Casino windsor just opened up rooms last September and February, respectively. Motor city I have heard has about 10 tables. I don't know about Windsor as they just opened about a month ago. I have yet to been to either of the new rooms.

Greektown has had a poker room since it opened. Last year they expanded from about 10 tables to about 18. I've heard they are going to get 5 new tables. That was about a month ago. As mentioned above they have 3/6, 5/10 and 10/20. They sometimes have a 20/40 table if there are enough players. NL I don't know much about as I usually play limit. They always have $50 (100 max), $100 and on the weekends I have seen $1000 buy-in. I know there are tournaments during the weekend and sometimes on the weekends.

On the weekends Fri/Sat, it can be as much as a three hour wait to get on a table. The NL tables seem to cycle through alot faster, but the Limit you will probably be waiting a bit. You can call up to an hour ahead and put your name on the list. If you don't check in within an hour of calling your name will get dropped. The wait is actually good becuase people tend to get good and drunk. The players are typical B&M loose passive. There are a few guys that go there frequently that think they are sharks but most of them aren't very good. I have only seen about 5-6 people that truly know what they are doing. I am sure there are more but I only get down there about once a month.

Greektown has much bigger games on the weekend. They have games up to 30/60 going all weekend and have a 1k min. buy in NL game.
