At my home game, we recently had a disagreement about cutting cards. A player went to cut the cards by leaving only a couple cards in the bottom section. I balked, and there was a disagreement at the table regarding this. I thought you had to leave at least 3 or 4 cards in each section, I'm pretty sure in a casino you couldn't cut just the top one or two cards. I searched online, but couldn't find anything definitive, although it seems that this is generally considered bad etiquette, and some other card games had rules regarding cutting. What is the deal in poker?

What does it matter? Cutting cards is cutting cards. If you cut two cards up/down, who cares?

just don't cut the top or bottom card. my buddy did that and i called it bullshit. he was pissed off for a few hands.
of course as the fridge gets empty our cuts get crazier. five separate cuts restacked at random. i think that's the morrocan cut. or the japanese cut or something

We call that the "Mazzurrah" cut. The guy that does that in our game is originally from some town in Missouri.
