Do you guys use cut cards in your home games?
I've been thinking about taking a marker to a Joker or "rules of poker" card to create a cut card. The guys I play with (and me too) are not particularly expert shufflers/dealers and I think the bottom card is getting shown a decent amount in the course of shuffle and deal. A cut card seems a good way to resolve that.
Any suggestions? thanks

I always use a cut card.
Easy way to make your own: Buy a plastic folder from a local store and use a paper cutter to cut to size. You can get lots of cut cards for about $.50.

Use one.
Buy one, or make one...but definitely use one.
Regarding your idea of using a joker and a marker. You want your cut card to be a little different than the other cards in the deck. Otherwise you run the risk of shuffling the cut card and inadvertently dealing it.
You can tape two jokers together. Thin cardboard works, such as the cardboard box that the cards came in. And then there is Ebay...oh what a wonderful place that Ebay.

I really LIKE using them, but tend not to. I did last night, and it rubbed off on another player that was dealing- he started using one too.

Cut cards also make it harder for bottom dealing to take place.

Cut cards are used to hide the bottom card (gives knowledgable players a step up on their outs)..
We usually play 2 decks.. I taped the jokers together from the blue and red decks and just use the red cut card on the blue deck and visa versa.
I use the same 2 cut cards on any deck I use.. Just pick the color that stands out best in the deck your using it with.
There will still be some players that accidently shuffle it into the deck but it's usually caught pretty quick.

i always use a cut card at my home games, makes everything that much more fair and professional.
cut cards are very cheap at online casino shops, but most of them have a minimum order amount of $20 so you can't just go and order 2 for 50 cents. whenever i order something i need for my home game, i throw in at least four cut cards to go with it, whether i need them or not. that way i always have one handy.
i do like the idea of cutting up a plastic folder though, i think that would be close to the ones i order.

If you buy some Copag/KEM cards on ebay, a lot of vendors will include a free cut card with you purchase - that's how I got mine.
