I know... shame on me (blah blah) but I caught on to this thread "over there" and it got my palms itching. Those of you who are also interested in clay chips might agree, so I thought I'd share

Nice concept, but I think Paulson isn't going to budge as far as really doing things differently for customization. I think that they are 1) Too busy making real Casino chips to really make personalized home sets and 2) Not really commited to the home poker market to begin with. The overhead for doing such a venture would make the price point too high for your average poker player.
Don't get me wrong. The group buy idea is good, but in the end you are still stuck with someone else's ideas and concepts. And if I'm paying that much money for real clays. I want total personalization. But if you're okay with that I say go for it. They are Paulson's after all. Same goes for most of the other real clays out there too. I think Pokerchips.com is the only company that is offering TOTAL custom clay chips. Most other real clays leave you stuck with either a ficticious or defunct Casino name and denomination.
And one other thing. Spook you are charged one demerit for trolling 2+2, lol. Oh the shame, oh the humiliation. Go and say 4 Our Fathers and 12 Hail Mary's immediately.

The group buy actually has made great progress, and we've actually confirmed a mold change from Paulson, and confirmed our custom inlay. We are even trying to do shaped inlays, but Paulson hasn't confirmed them yet. It'll be the only new Paulson set with an option for non-denomination inlays, to allow for cash and tournament use.
I think you may underestimate Paulson's willingness to get back into the home market. They've already committed to it, the new James Bond Paulsons are being sold for a month + now. The Pharaoh's Club Paulson set is going to be the third set produced (and the best IMHO).

Ooooh, be sure to mention the new one here too. I realy wanted to get in on this buy, but I have another target for my poker winnings currently. I wasn't thrilled about the Egyptian theme (as a concept) but they were so damn cool I was seriously thinking about doing it untill just recently. Actually, I still want to get them, to be completely honest.

The new set isn't so "Egyptian" as the first one. It's based on classic Vegas clay casino chips. It just happens to be an Egyptian Casino, like Caesar's Palace is Roman.
The new designs are up. It'll still be a couple of weeks before we place the group buy though.
