My cousin is going to run some home cash games once in a while, with a $20 buyin.. and then he thinks everyone should only get 20 chips and it be no limit.. I don't think that's a very good idea.

I think it should be 25 cents per chip and it shouldn't be a set buy in but instead of no limit it should be a $5 limit (not sure how that would work, maybe $3 per betting round max? that sounds good)

what do you think?

I just don't think people would have much fun with only 20 chips

Standard is 100 big blinds so for $20 you should get 100 chips. I would make it $25 and every chip is $0.25. If it's a tournament, it doesn't matter the buy in amount, but you need at least 1000 in chips whether you make some worth 25 and some worth 100. $1500 in chips is the norm, and blinds need to go up at a rate in line with the time you want to finish.
