These babies just arrived yesterday from pokerchips.com after many, many months of anticipation. Actually, production and delivery only took about 3 months after the final design was locked down, but I spent about 6 months going back and forth with the art department trying to get the look just right. So like a real baby, about 9 months total. They were worth the wait.

Bottom line: 700 chips (actually 725 with 5 freebies of each color), $731.07, zero regrets.

Really nice!
I like the Roman border you chose, and nice color choices for the inlays.
Sweet! Invite me over.

i don't have a scale but this is what they say at pokerchips.com:
What do Clay Chips weigh?
Professional casino clay chips weigh between 8.5 to 10 grams. Some chip makers use lead powder to increase chip weight. Our clay chips are 100% lead free and weigh 8.5 to 9 grams.

That's because they use brass powder instead. Notice the gold like glitter on the side of your chips?

kinda scary to think the casinos are poisoning us through our fingers with lead. makes me want to wear gloves next time i play in vegas.
the brass filings are quite noticeable on the edges of my chips but my friends seem to like the sparkly effect.

I didn't mean it in a bad way. Those are some sweet chips although I'll probably go Chipco when I do mine.

Sweet chips, very realistic. It's worth the money if you have good games. The only question I have is why did you purchase blue cheques. White-$1, Red-$5, Green-$25, Black-$100 Blue is typically $50 but very rare and it lacks use. $500 maybe, but should have been orange or purple. Cool set though, I like the art as well. I eyeballed making my own set through pokerchips and one day probably will especially after seeing the quality.

No.
The fact that your FTR forum avatar is a photo of the chips you got that resulted from the search in which you discovered FTR brings it full circle.
It was fate. I always knew it would come to this. I am your father.

Very fancy chips ChezJ, puts my boring 4 colour chips with card suit borders to shame.

re: the blue chips, i needed a handful of $0.50 chips for use as small blinds in my $1/$2 limit games. several casinos (e.g., flamingo, bicycle) use light blue chips to represent $1, so i figured i'd use them for the lowest denomination. the lightest shade of blue offered by pokerchips.com is the "imperial blue" seen in the photos. grey might have worked well too.
for the record, i got:
100 imperial blue w/ white edge spots ($0.50)
400 white w/ lavender edge spots ($1)
100 mandarin red w/ dayglo peach edge spots ($5)
80 green w/ arc yellow edge spots ($25)
20 black w/ dayglo pink edge spots ($100)
this breakdown has worked well so far for both limit and no limit games. should be good for tournaments too.

Just wondering why you decided to not use denominations on your chips? I know when I do mine I'm gonna have denominations on them, but not the standard type. I just plan to use numbers without the decimal places. So my green chip would be 25 and it would either be a .25 or $25. That's how I use my chips I have now with denominations.

on thursdays i play super low stakes with my close friends ($0.50/$1 limit) and so the chip denominations need to be changed. blues become $0.25, whites become $0.50, and greens become $1. also in tournaments, the blues can be repurposed to be $500's at the final table.

No. Those are what denomination each color represents. I think the breakdown is roughly $1.05 per chip not including the 25 free they send.

following up on the blue chip question, i noticed on my recent trip to vegas that a LOT of poker rooms are now using blue chips to represent $1. for example, mgm grand uses the same dark shade of blue that i got in my set. someone told me it's cuz they don't show the dirt as badly as white chips.

The Bellagio also uses a dark blue for their $1 denomination chips.

My preferences for colors are about the same as yours (only difference is I'd want Lavender edgespots on the red chips... seeing these chips has convinced me to save another 200 bucks to get the printed labels instead of hotstamping... they look so good =]
