When someone says that in a B&M limit game, what are your thoughts? I've seen this a lot, but seen it go both ways. It usually happens after someone makes a bet on the turn and is re-raised by someone. On the river they say "check to the raiser" and obviously the raiser bets and the person calls... what kind of tell do you think this is?

It's a tell that the guys who says it, doesn't like his hand. On the other hand, if you got the nuts, it's a fun line to throw out there, and then reraise him, lol.
This is a true story. I'm not a paid actor. FTR does not guarantee any results. People can and do lose money when playing poker.

Yea it's either I got the nuts and waiting for your dumbass to bet or I like my hand but not enough to bet myself but I’ll call your bet, basically I want to pay 1bb instead of 2bb on the river... Translations: “I would like a cheap showdown because I think my hand isn't strong..." or "I got the nuts go ahead and bet out so I can trap you for an extra bet..."

ChezJ is an unknown quantity at this point
if you're going to use "check to the raiser" as a trap while holding the nuts, make sure you also say it at other times when you plan to check-fold/check-call. if you just say it out of the blue, people may detect foul play and not bet.

conversely, once you have "checked to the raiser" then checkraised his ass, people will become far more cautious about betting into you when you again "check to the raiser." use this to get free cards with gutshots and other weak draws.
