I'm looking to get an octagon shaped table. 6-8 people would be about perfect. Anyone know of some good sites to look at? Is it possible to get a good table (no folding legs) made of wood for under $1,000?
Thanks

Wow...if you are spending that much, you have many, many choices. I would suggest hitting up a "home carpenter" in your area and have him build you one to your specifications rather than go with a pre-made. This is assuming that you do not want to build one yourself.
I have not seen a table for sale with exactly what I want, hence I am building my own. If I had a grand to spend on one, I would definitely get with a buddie carpenter and let him deal with the headache.
Just my 2 chips....

I agree. You could make a pretty nice table for around $300 if you build it yourself. I've looked it up on the net and it doesn't look too terribly complicated. It's just a matter of having the right tools.

if doing that isnt your cup of tea or you lack the tools to do so, i'd look up a handyman and ask them. If they cant do it, they'll probably know someone who can. For 1k you could make it out of some real nice hardwood too.

Well they're more expensive than $1,000, but Trinity Tables makes some real nice octagon tables. They have regular and large sizes.
If you can build it yourself you'd save alot of money. And it'd be just perfect.
I myself decided that my dining room table is too nice and big not to be used. So I'm going to build a folding hold'em top. I'm going to use 3/4 inch MDF and cover it with the black poker cloth I already have. And I'm gonna give everyone about a 6 inch border to keep their chips and drinks on the hard wood of the table. So basically, the inner part of the table will be a piece of wood about 68"x32" covered in black poker felt. I'll take pics when I get around to building it.
