Hey gang.

Your picture piqued my curiosity about how you structure the chip values, the blinds, and the buy-ins for your tournament. (By the way, I have the same exact 11.5gram Dice pattern chips...they are pretty good).

Our tournament buy-ins are usually $40, so rather than confuse people with 200, 800, or 1000 units of chips, I usually just dole out $40 worth.
We use 4 colors

white (.25)
red (.50)
blue (1.)
black (2)

This seems to work for me.

How do you guys do it?
How many chips do you have, how many chips does each person get, and what value do they have?
How do you structure the blinds?

We have a core group of friends that we usually play our home tourneys with. Our buy-ins have usually been between $20 and $50. But regardless of what the buy-in is, each player always gets $50 in chips.

We only use the white and red chips. White = $1, red = $5.

Blinds start at $1/$2 and they DOUBLE every 20 minutes (we use a timer). The $50 in chips and the timed doubling of the blinds ensures that the tournament doesn't last more than 2 or 3 hours. The top 3 placers get paid out.

After the tourney, we usually play cash games with re-buys allowed until everyone gets too tired to play.
