just a quick question. i am going to be adding antes to my home game to make the action a little better. i was just wondering if you guys know if the small and big blinds are also required to pay the ante? if so, is this rule set in stone and in place for a good reason or could it be changed? just wondering if there is something i am missing.

All players pay the ante, including the blinds.
I have never really understood the point of the ante.

In later stages of the tournament. Antes make sure players just don't go into total cruise control. It also helps weed out the shorter stacks to speed up the end of the tourney.

that's right fyr, and that's what i hope to accomplish with adding antes, a little more smooth and quick play and not so much "check check check, i just want to make the money" we'll see how it goes tonight.
on the original subject, after discussion with some of the guys i play with in the home game, it would not make sense to not ante if you are one of the blinds. if that were the case, when it got down to heads up, no one would have to ante and it would serve no purpose, so we will be going with everyone antes.
wish me luck.
