Well, I'm done with 4/8 and 6/12 live. I played the 9/18 at the Commerce tonight and my god man. Not quite as bad as the 4/8 crowd but they make the Party 2/4 game look downright tough. It also has a 1/3 blind structure! I was involved in multiple 4+ way caps pre-flop. The usual bad beat stories tonight, AA & KK both lose. Only set (KK) gets cracked to runner flush. Yada yada yada.
Good read, bad suck-out...
First orbit at the table. Solid raises and gets cold-donked, I 3-bet TT from the CO, Button double-cold-donks, blinds refuse to fold, all call. 6 way for 3 bets.
557r flop. I bet, button raises, folded to me and I 3-bet certain he never has 5x or 77 here, button caps.
Turn is a A. check/call
River is blank check/call
Button shows AJo.
Only hand I got out of line with all night...
LAgg open limps from HJ, Button is about the muck and I raise T8o. Blinds refuse to fold and it's 4 to the flop.
J97 with 2 clubs. Checked to me and I bet, called to LAgg who check/raises, I 3-bet, fold, call, LAgg caps, call, call.
Turn is A non-club. Checked to me . I say "flush didn't get there?" and bet, all call.
River is a 8 non-club. BB bets, LAgg folds, I call. BB had ATo.
One final one from my first table.
2 limpers, I look to my left and see the button about to fold, so I over-limp from the CO with T9o. HJ comments that it's the first time he's seen me call and gives me a puzzled look. Flop is 877 with 2 diamonds. Blind bets, HJ calls, I say "now I'll raise." Blind calls, HJ folds. Turn is a blank. Check, check (a couple other players chuckle.) River is Q diamonds. Checked to me I smile and bet (maybe less holywood next time.) Blind thinks about it and calls, I muck. Random person not in the hand wants to see my cards and happily the dealer ignores him. Said player calls down my black QQ all the way down a couple hands later with AJo unimproved (I was UTG, he was the SB) because he thought I was bluffing.

i refuse to play anything lower than 9/18 because of the rake. Up to the 15/30 game at bellagio, the play sucks, enough so to play those games if you have the roll to do it. 800 isnt too bad in a fishy live game, losing 1-2 20bb pots will kill the session pretty quick.

look on the bright side, that's only 38 bb at 9-18, myself and everyone else at FTR knows you could beat that game into the ground man, just keep at it

Anyway, I think outside of special events, etc. I'm done with offline poker. I've almost sworn if off several times. Probably if I ran good I wouldn't be saying this, so at a certain level it's silly....
I figure to make ~$18/hour at this game. My online play is much more profitable and I'm over-due to play even bigger.
I just don't enjoy it as much, not enough action and it's not like I enjoy making small talk with a bunch of idiots I'd like to rob blind. I sure as hell know better than to say anything about proper play at the table.
Running bad/cold is worse because you just can't jump into another hand and shake it off. I think I was losing some pots because I would make the right aggro play but my heart just wasn't into it and it showed.
Then throw in a 30-45min drive...
Random story. So at war with the table LAgg at my right and while I'm in a hand the other big table idiot says "watch out this guy is dangerous." Thanks for fucking killing my action pal. It just seems that my play style and personally lead to action killers like that.

Sorry to hear about that Fnord. You are like our Poker Guru !! You were just having a horrible cold streak.
Come to Southern California San Manuel Casino in San Bernardino sometime. Play a weekend, win couple of grands and go home happy . You will clobber the fish on the head so hard, they wont know what hit them.

ya live cash games can suck so much when the pace is slow.
This one guy keeps bugging me to go to a .50-1 NL cash game in some guys house, but last time i was there, we played less than 20 freakin hands in one hour one time because they thought we were on the WPT and decided to wait sooo long on all of the decisions.
Plus, they are relatively experienced players so I have little interest in battling it out with a bunch of rocks for the drunk guys money.
I'm ready to swear off NL cash games from my arsenal anyways, limit and tournaments are the way of the future.

As of about a month ago, I am refusing to play any live limit game lower than 15/30. The rake is easier and the players are just as bad as .5/$1 party players......juicy. Had one guy buying two racks at time, over and over and over
I've played the Wynn and Bellagio 15/30 now, and you are a much better player than me Fnord. I have no doubt that you could handle the 30/60, assuming you could adjust to the pace and sitting there with the shmucks

Is that guy still part of the forum??

yup, i spent 4 days in vegas and played at the bellagio for 3 days, and pretty much all the floor games seemed beatable, even the $30-60 games. Only the high stakes rooms seemed like shark fests.
hell i watched a $40-80 mixed game and a guy complained "too much gambling going on here..." heh...
