Went to Bally's AC on 8/14. Last time in AC I played at the TAJ 5-10 Limit. Bally's Park Place has a decent poker room on the 6th floor. There is an elevator behind the cage or and escalator in the center of the casino floor (long ass escalator by the way). This time I played some NLHE. Max buy in was 300. Min was 100. Blinds were $1/3.

Only one complaint was that the casino does not rate you while you are in the poker room. I guess if you want a food & bev comp you can ask the floor person. Other than that you can get free hot dogs and chips at the table.

Anyway, they spread 1-5 Stud, anothe Stud higher limit but not exactly sure, 2-4, 3-6, 5-10 and 10-20 HE and the NLHE mentioned above.

The NLHE was ripe! Sat down with a bunch of young guys, most under 30. It was a "must move" table at first. So you had to move to the other game with the regulars as the seats opened up at the main table. Started at 12:30 so it was early. After 5 the must move was over and all games were full.

Interestingly, they deat NLHE 11-handed. That's right I said ELEVEN (11). It was a tight squeeze. Also, your game needs a lot of adjustment and you need to play extra tight with 11 hands out there. My opponents did not seem to grasp that concept. I had a string of good cards, KK 4 times within and hour. $15 preflop raise, which is 5xs BB got little or no respect. It was typical to play for $75-$150 pots. I was grinding it out, never AI, never bluff and up about $600 within 3 hours.

Then I got moved to the main game with a bunch of old men regulars. I mean the 55 and up crowd. I figured it would be a bunch of rocks. They all were there before I started and had stacks ranging from $500-800. They were not so hot. I lost one pot when my QQ went down to a flopped set. Then I made that back and more on the next hand with top to pair KQ. There was a $25 raise on the CO and damned if all the limpers didn't call the $25, pot was almost $200 pre-flop. I bet 3/4 pot and took it right down. After that and with a $900 stack I thought it was best to take my money off the table and take a dinner break. No sense in ruining all that hard work in one hand, although only one dude had me covered at that point.

After dinner, I got back into the young wild game and picked up another $200 before driving home throught hurricane Charley. The biggest pot of the day took place at this point $800 + w/ 4 AI. I was not involved. But the surrounding tables were on their feet to watch the cards get turned over. KK held up and the dude filled his racks and called it a day.

In summary, live games are a lot more fun than online. You play slower and need more patience which a lot of new players don't understand. I recommend a stop at Bally's if you are in the neighborhood.

SteveO-

I was just up in AC this past weekend, and ballys is still probably the loosest game in town. After a roller coaster of a weekend, I was only up about $250 by 5 pm on sunday night. My buddy and I decided to go make some quick $$ over at ballys.

We were only there less that 2 hours, and we both made over 350, and we never got involved in each others pots.

I also played at the trop and the borgata. I like the limit games at the borgata, mainly because they spread higher limits, and the trop has 1/2 NL 300 max which tends to be pretty loose also. A few times I limp with marginal hand, only to be raised 5xBB to $10, 5 or 6 callers back to me........hmmmmm, let me see if I have 2 cards....yup....I guess I can call, only to end up taking down a huge pot with cards I wouldn't have had odds to see a flop with if everyone hadn't joined the party. Very nice.

Where do you stay/play mostly when in AC?

Usually only go on day trips and have played a Bally's and Taj. I have not been to Borgata yet. Taj was spreading NL the other day on a Friday but I played 5/10 limit.

I plan on playing in the Tropicana NL tournament in December which will probably be the next trip. The only NL i've played was at Bally's and it was great although their room is kind of crappy.
