Hi
A quick question for those in the know:
The local casino (there is only one) runs a weekly tournament - $90 buy in, 30 people max. Prize money is $900, $550 & $350 or something similar.
By my calculations, that means the casino is taking $900 of the $2700. I understand B&M casinos have higher overheads etc than online, but to me 1/3 seems excessive.
Is this quite high, or is it similar to what other casinos charge?

$100 FO at the casino I play at, 165 max. $90 of our buyin goes to the prize pool, much more reasonable than what you've posted.

First off, are you sure they aren't paying 5 spots or something? 10% places paid is a little unusual for such a small tournament.

Whatever casino courtiebee is playing at, I would love to have in Vegas. 90% return is awesome - it's nearly as good as playing online at those limits. AFAIK (off the top of my head), there is only one tournament in Vegas that will beat that %, and it's Bellagio's $1000+60 tourney.

Most rooms in Vegas charge between 20-33% for games around $100 buy-in, so at worst you're simply at the raw end of that range. I do know that some casinos have games that only return 60% (!). I think Harrah's, for example, has a $50+20. Can't believe people play in that, but whatever blows your hair back, I guess.

So it's not good, but it's not all that bad, either.

My local casino has $125, $250, $500 etc.. basically they take $150 total from every table for every limit (eg. 10 tables = $1500 rake from nearly $12000), so the higher you play the better off you are...
Roll Rebuilding (for the second time). Current; $1600 from $300 (previous, $2300 from $15)
