ok, this guy I kind of know a little bit invited me to come to his house and play poker the other night. I didnt really know him, or his friends too well, some not at all, and i had never played with them, but i went anyway. there was one table, about nine guys, and they were playing a ring game of NL Hold Em, with one guy dealing the whole time. There was a LOT of alchohol there, and I dont drink anyway, but especially not when playing poker, so lookin at all the drunks I thought i was in great shape. We start playing at about 10 PM. About ten hands in, one guy raises about 8 Bucks preflop from an UTG+1 posistion. folds all around but BB calls. K, so two handed to the flop. it comes Ace King 10 rainbow. BB checks, UTG raises all-in. A third guy who folded out of the hand, says "hes got big slick". BB folds. UTG mucks without showing. the dealer picks up his cards, looks at them and says "no he didnt." UTG shouts some obsenities and decks the dude dealing in the face. Ya. A couple hours later after most of the guys had been busted and it was down to me and three others (i was up over a hundred and fifty bucks at this point so i wasnt going anywhere) On one hand I busted two of the guys. The both got real pissed and got up to buy back in, the other guy left at the table, the one who invited me, leans over and says, "hey. they can buy back in as much as they want, cause we will just take that too." or something like that. The other dudes come RUNNING over cursing about how we were playing teams or signals or something. We take them down in like 30 minutes and then, the guy that invited me and the guy who had been dealing decide they want to go heads up for a while. They ask me to deal. Dealer guy has 20 bucks in chips, other guy has over a hundred and is a weak-ass player. He bets an inside straight draw the same as he bets TPTK and he pretty much thinks two pair is a liscence to print money. And once, i folded and showed him what i was laying down preflop to a 3 dollar raise (and 8d 3d) and he was like "why didnt you play those, they were suited!" Anywho, he sucks and dealer is probably the best player that was there, but he was way shortstacked and other guy refused to cash out. Dealer doubles up on the second hand because the other guys kept calling him down with a jack high. About 10 hands later, Other guy pushes preflop and Dealer guy calls. Other guy flips over J J and dealer guy flips over Red Aces. Flopcomes A 2 5 with two clubs. turn and river are blanks, J J loses like 60 bucks. He gets way pissed, accuses me of stacking the deck, and wants to fight. The other two guys in the room calm him down, and Dealer guy takes his money in about 5 more hands.

Here is my question, i walked away with almost 200 dollars, which is 10 times what i sat down with, because all these guys have more money than brains, but I dont want to get capped by some drunk who loses with his almighty two pair. Should I go back?

....should I go back?.....

Not if you think the environment will be similar.

Let me see:
1. dealer reveals mucked cards
2. too much alcohol
3. drunk strangers losing money to outsiders
4. beligerent drunks looking to fight

Last time this happened, they accused you of cheating because you were winning. They cursed at you and wanted to fight. Next time you guys beat them at poker, the drunk guy might just hit you.

If you go, you do plan on winning...right?

These guys need to get drunk and roll dice with one another. I'd stay away if I were you. There are plenty of other friendly environments out there with dead money.

Point blank. If you don't know them. Then you can't trust them with your safety. So I would leave it be. You don't know the other guy well enough to hope he'll back you up if some shit goes down.

ya.....i'm currently in college as well. same similar senario happens to me almost twice a week.

i wouldn't worry too much about college kids......they talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. most of these guys are playing w/ mommy and daddy's money anyway (which is why they tend to make such bonehead plays).

i just bring a friend along....if they try anything funny, just kick the shit out of them and don't go back again.

one exception though.....are you guys playing in a frat house? if you are, i would just ditch the game all together. frat house's games are normally rigged......i know some of my brothers will occasionally set up a game in the basement were they do all sorts of crazy and stupid cheating/signaling to clean out helpless freshmen that are dumb enough to stay and play.

It wasnt at a frat house. just some guys basement. I really am not worried about the colluding because A- they arent that smart, B- I would be able to catch it cause they are all drunk, C- I won last time.

I play in a frat house basement all the time. Those guys have a pretty sweet set up, two poker tables, blackjack, roulette, and a slot machine in the basement. they have games pretty much all day every day and all night every night, they call it the Kappa Kasino. Its pretty straight up from what I have seen
