I only live a half hour away from the Canterbury Card Club, but I've never been there. I'll be going soon with some friends.
My only live experience is 1-3 spread limit for a couple of hours at the Excalibur in Vegas. It was only a couple of months after I started playing poker. All I remember is that I played TABTA... played about 5 hands outside the blinds, and broke even.
Anyway, I'll probably play the $2/$4 limit. What can I expect? Any tips/suggestions?
Thanks!

I should say that that's my only live casino experience... I play a monthly home game with coworkers.

I've played there about a dozen times when I was in town on business. The $2/$4 tables are pretty loose (even by normal live game $2/$4 table standards). Assuming you can catch some cards and not get sucked out on TOO badly, tight smart play should yield you some money. Good luck.

I was there once. he's right about the 2/4. Some guys there were playing 50% of their hands. But most of the people there are real nice and it's not an intimidating and smokey back room kind of place.
I broke even when I was there. Won 4 pots in about 2 hours.
I'll be going back for sure.

Any low limit game at pretty much any card room is going to be loose passive.

Does anyone know what the rake is?

I got out there last week. Definitely loose/passive, although my friend said it was a tougher table than what he normally sees out there. I finished up $40 after about 2 1/2 hours on the $2/$4 tables.
If I remember correctly, the rake was 10% with a $4 max. I think there was a bad beat jackpot rake, too.

Some days they have specials..like I think on tuesdays, if you get pocket aces and lose you get $75. I've also heard there's a nice payoff if you get aces over kings and you get 2 people to call you at the river.
If you get a straight flush, you get a hat.
