I'm flying to Scottsdale, AZ tomorrow and will be playing at Casino Arizona... a recent post by ChezJ said that they take a $4 rake at the 3/6 limit game there. My question is, should I make the move up to 4/8, as the rake will probably be the same but the pot sizes will be larger - to those of you with B&M experience, will the players be as fishy? 3/6 is the lowest limit there.

In my experience at the casino lonnie deals at the 2/4 and 3/6 games are rather frustrating because the betting isn't high enough most of the time to scare people away from waiting on some long shot draw, and the rake in those limits is a pain.

I've never played 4/8 there, but I am assuming it's just like the others where they rake 10% up to 5 bucks. It has been recommended to me many times to move up to 4/8 because the quality of play is better there. In my opinion, playing with people who dont know what they're doing is fine when it's one or two people, but five or six can ruin your night. Fishy is a good thing, but on a small scale only!

The real question is - how good is your game? If you have a good game, then you should play 4/8. You will get a mix of good/bad players at 4/8. You just need to quickly figure out who is who. Typically a 4/8 table consists of 7 somewhat aware players and 3 bad players. The 7 decent players take turns isolating the bad ones. Ever see Rounders? Just figure out who the suckers are and you will be fine. (Assuming you have Game that is )
