Played in a home game over the weekend and had a blast. It was my second time playing this group.
It started off with 17 player, $50 tourney at 6 pm. I got the chip lead (2x the starting chips) in the first of the 40 minute rounds, but hit a dry spell in the second round and dropped back down near the starting amount. Blinds went very high in the third round turning it into a bit of a crap-shoot, so I went out in 9th place with AQ v JJ to the board of JxxAA. I went allin on the turn after he checked it to me twice. It hurts to play so well that long and then lose with trips aces, but the other guy out-played me on the hand so its my fault. The part that annoys me the most is that he's the same guy that knocked me out the first time I played there.
The side game was 50ยข/$1 NL. I bought in for the $50 I had left in my pocket at ~10 pm. We played until ~7:30 am, when one guy's wife showed up and cooked us breakfast very nice! I finished with $291, not to shabby.
The funniest part about the whole night was the host's 8 year old daughter playing against us at 3-4 am, and WINNING pots. She bought in for $5 and played like a champ. Early on, she bluffed some guy off top pair after telling her dad "daddy, im gonna bluff the next hand", later she turned a nice straight and won a $30 pot. There is nothing stranger than seeing an 8 year old girl 100% confidently push a stack of chips in to re-raise someone.
Never in a casino, I love home game poker!
