dealt AKo, in Cutoff.
I inspect the table as the cards are dealt, guy to my right has a reasonable hand but isnt calling a shove. rest are weak. I read Caro's Book of Tells like the bible, tonight my reads are bang on, ive called out cards of at least 5 hands blind in my head and ive made 2 great laydowns to runner runner straights.
UTG maniac flips 20x BB (20 pounds) into the pot. everyone folds, guy to my right calls (im guessing two face cards or suited connectors) hes pretty loose preflop but plays tight to reraises.
now theres 41.5 BBs in the pot. I have AKo (red) I decide that im gonna take this maniac in UTG down and hopefully hell fold and if he doesnt im probably either favorite or flipping so i have about 60-40% favorite over his range.
I shoved earlier to his BB raise of 20£ to my 6£ reraise with JJ and he folded when i raised 65 pounds. (i didnt show, because i dont want the other players knowing that sometimes by reraise range is that low, it can be against this maniac, but against everyone else its bad)
I decide that this is the time to make my move and I shove 130 pounds ( i started with £40 so really im freerolling in a big pot with a lot of equity)
The raise is the whole of his stack.
My table respect is stellar, i have huge respect, ive shown down some great hands made some spectacular moves and got value from most of my hands, i have made one small mistake calling a river value bet by a LAG on my left mistaking it for a bluff. many of the players are either rocks or LAG's.
Is it good to get it in against a maniac with ace king preflop?

My best and shortest answer would be; "It depends."
Each individual poker game is different and scenarios are always changing.
I would need more information about both of the other players involved in this particular pot, the overall feel of the table, your first gut instinct, etc.

This is a strange situation. How often does he open-raise for 20bb? How loosely does the guy to your right call raises like this?
You're almost exactly 1 in 3 to make TPTK on the flop, in which case you VERY likely have the best hand, so a call wouldn't be the worst play pot-odd wise.
Don't be too amazed with yourself regarding reads. Sometimes you can have a solid read on somebody. A lot of times you just did a lucky guess. Pay more attention to bet sizes, bet frequency and tendencies.
Pot odd wise it would be no problem for you to flip against TT here, and if they're as crazy as you say they are, then this is an easy shove... HOWEVER - You are very likely underrolled for this game - in which case you can't take any swings, and you probably shouldn't be playing in the first place - so better play it safe.

yeh im under rolled but they play awefully its like taking candy from a baby when u get a really good hand u get paid by a double up almost all the time.
they constantly draw to the inside, never fold flush draws even on the turn and make all sorts of aweful mistakes.
in total im up about £300 with a loss of that £40, i usually only buy in for 40 and playing tight pre leads to good results.
the maniac was doing it almost every other hand he was drunk, the guy to my right was calling reasonably tight but was never going to make the call.
as far i was concerned i was either flipping to win a big pot or a slight or heavy favorite, 40 in - and an expectation of about £200 ish.
turns out i was bang on and the guy called with ace 7 s and i lost to a flopped ace 7 deuce.....
got my money in good.

If he does it every other hand, then this is an easy shove, if you're not too concerned with the guy to your right.

yeh i thought it was an easy shove versus a maniac i just wasnt sure.
i think everyone at the table knew i played the right way. the guy being drunk says just after the hand is won by him.
"thats what happens when you play against me"
i literally smiled shook his hand and walked out chuckling to myself. his money is mine if i see him in the future.
also good for meta because people have seen me "overplay" ak against a manic which imo i dont think it really is. next time itll be aces and they will shit themselves.
is also think playing in this situation i was Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

i also think against this sort of player (an ace hugger - reason for the move) its probably the 3rd highest edge apart from waiting for monsters.

i shove this all day vs LAGG & manaics in the card room without thinking twice. Your hand is the nuts preflop against their wide raising/calling range.

the only mistake you made was leaving the table with him there holding a ton of chips. stay, reload, and take them back.
