Playing dealers choice with wild cards - Where does 5-of-a-kind rank? After 4-of-a-kind, or Top hand - higher than a Royal Flush (which is where I have always played it my whole life).
Thanks,

I believe statistically it is still ahrder to get a straight/royal flush than 5 of a kind. So between those to is riabout right. I'm gonna look it up to be sure.

Well I stand corrected. In the book "How to play Winning Poker" by Avery Cardoza. 5 of a Kind is in fact higher than a Royal Flush in Wild Card Poker.
Does anyone else have the actual odds on these two hands?

well let's calculate the probability....
with 4 cards to come, and assuming you have a wild card.
52 / 52 = 1 for any card
3 / 51 = pair
2 / 50 = trips
1 / 49 = quads
prob = 0.0048019%
52/52 = 1 for any card
4/51 = one of the remaining cards that completes the straight flush
3/50 = "
2/49 = "
prob = 0.0192076%

When i used to play wild games; i would make a rule that a Natural straight flush beats any 5 of a kind. Works well, plus if you ever tie you can use the number of wilds to see who wins or loses.

I have always treated the same 'natural' and 'wild' hands equal. It would suck major ass to have a 'wild' royal flush and lose all you money to a natural royal flush . At my place - they would just split the pot. We usually have a small side pot ($1/person) for the highest natural hand of the night.
