A tilting donkey straddles for $50 in a $1/$2 live game. He's a big gambler and calling station who's been luckboxing all night, calling big all-ins on the turn with draws, calling out for miracle cards and getting them, flopping quads vs. AA, calling two all-ins with K8s, etc.
It folds to me in the BB and I have 44 and a tight image. I have $550 and the straddler has about $400. Is 44 enough to play for $50 or should I just fold?

With 12% dead money in the pot already, 57% equity vs a random hand and ~54% equity vs most overcards, I push. Then ask for a seat change to get position on the dipshit if you haven't done so already.
Not to mention if you lose, it's not like you won't get another shot at your money again. He's no vault.

You know it's a profitable shove, so idk what the question is. The only consideration to take is whether or not you want to expose yourself to that much variance.
Worst play ITT is all the talk about luckboxing bad beats imo.

yah I did shove and gave him some verbal encouragement to just fold.
the luckboxing part didn't bother me, it was the idea that he might call it off with JT or 55 and put me in a bad position for a lot of chips when there were going to be plenty of profitable situations against him later.
there was a similar situation earlier in the night, when someone made a dumb straddle for $30 and the SB made an even dumber raise for half his stack to $100 and I woke up with JJ in the BB, and I remember thinking how stupid he was for that bet. Of course, he had to get one extra player than this time.

Raise to $150, shove any flop after a silent count to 3.
He'll call pre-flop and fold the flop way too often to make pushing pre-flop ideal.
