so table was doing this gay thing where everyone basically live straddled, so we were essentially playing 1-2-5 poker (i of course wasn't taking part, so i thought i could exploit the fuck out of it if i put my mind to it).
just an orbit before, i'd 4b someone who let on that they knew what an iso was (in other words, he 3b the blind straddler and i raised that as a bluff) with 85s. i showed and the whole table jizzed their pants.
I'm dealt
Folds to me in MP and i raise to $20, half the table grumbles and says "you're raising again?", BB calls and Straddler calls.
the straddler prolly has a vpip of like 50, as she's been limping a bunch, and she's built a sizable stack only having shown down sets and once showed down TPTK with AK. she's very fit or fold. BB seems like a proud new yorker. i haven't seen him show down much 'cause he was a pretty standard live player, playing too many pots but more than willing to get out of the way once the money starts goin' in. i suspect, though, that he hates being bluffed and prolly overestimates how much it's happening to him. BB has like 200 and straddler has like 250-300 and i have them both covered.
Flop ($61)
Checks to me, i tank, heavily consider betting 25 and double barreling any spade, Q, A or J, but ultimately check
Turn ($61)
BB bets $20 and Straddler mucks, hero's turn to act.
I look across the table at villain and he's got the dumbest poker face i've ever seen. he's staring at the board, all wide-eyed, and he has the face of someone who's concentrating every muscle in their body on trying not to let out a fart. i can't tell if his look means "omg, i hope you doesn't sniff out my bluff" or if it means "omg, i got the nuts, i hope he calls so baaaaaad."
i post this hand 'cause it's from my 2nd ever live session, and it brought up a bunch of issues for me i don't run into online:
1) the live straddle thing: what's my best plan for exploiting this? should i be iso'ing this wider then my usual range or should i stick with tight is right (which is generally a good strategy live)? is raising it 4x's ok? is 15 much better?
2) i bet flop and plan to double barrel a bunch of turns all day online, but a) i'm playing on a razor thin BR, and b) i'm dealing with a different kind of "standard villain" than usual, and i'm not exactly sure how they react to cbets. online, people c/c cbets and then c/f turns with such an embarrassingly wide range, but i don't know how it works live, nor exactly how this effects my ev for different courses of action. also, i never see bluffs live, so it was tough for me to raise villains bet even though it is such an embarrassing spot to fold. thoughts?
3) tells: do you interpret villain's really bad "play dead" face as him being scared as fuck of me making a call or as him trying to hold back excitement? or am i looking at this wrong?
i was pretty sure it meant that he was scared and trying to keep his pulse down, but it was liek the first time i even looked at an opponents' face, so i decided to not let things that i don't know how to interpret affect my decision.
sorry, long post, but hopefully it sparks some discussion

Unless he's super weak/tight/bad and will just fold to a turn raise without any though whatsoever on how you're basically telling him what you hold - i.e. you're not repping a value raise at all imo.
