 This not so much a question about the play, but the "live" element of being able to maybe put on a little act to swing somebody into calling you.

Blinds are 1/1, 100NL
Effective stacks about 130BB deep.

Reads: Villian is a middle aged woman who looks like a nit, and as a matter of fact is a nit. She seemed to play off a starting hands chart preflop (and no way near correctly), and postflop never put in large amounts of money into the pot without a big hand. I had sat down directly to her right deliberately.

I have QQ in EP, I open the pot for 4.

Villain cold calls. Somebody in LP calls behind, everybody folds.

Flop is KQx rainbow.

I lead for 16. The lady insta-calls, other guy folds.

Turn is a blank, but brings a possible flush draw.

I bet again for 26, and she again pretty much insta-calls.

River comes the T, but J9 and AJ are out of the question - she (unlike many others at this table) was not going to be calling insta-calling two streets of big bets with a gutshot.

I glance at her chips, and miscount and assume that I have her covered - actually she had more than me.

I go all in for about 90, which is about the size of the pot.

A century passes. I'm of course relieved she didn't insta-call, because that can pretty much only mean she's got KK. But she thinks... and thinks...

And meanwhile I'm sitting there, directly next to her, unsure of whether to sit as still as possible, or whether to crack jokes with the other players, or whether to stare at the soccer on the plasma screen...

But actually the tension of waiting for AGES is actually making me jittery, so I impulsively decide to use that natural bodily reaction and start playing it up a bit - I cover my mouth... take a heaving deep breath... generally acting more uncomfortable than I actually was.

Is this a reasonable sort of thing to do while waiting a long time for your oppenent to call? Did I over do it? Do you guys have favourite tricks to try to trigger somebody's calling instinct?

 I didn't want to seem like a jerk by calling the clock on her, but eventually somebody else called the floor over to ask for the clock. Is this actually incorrect? As in, am I the only person in the hand who is allowed to call the clock on somebody?

i think anyone who was dealt in the hand is allowed the call a clock, although generally it's considered bad manners. Theres a video on youtube where tiffany michelle called the clock on some guy when he had a decision for all his chips and she wasnt in the hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GjIY-x1No8

i meant bad manners if they weren't in the hand, it would of been perfectly acceptable for you to do it, I would of.

Poor players often get stuck in spots where they just don't know what to do, or want to do something but are uncomfortable backing it up with real money.

That said, after a minute or two call a clock. Just don't be a dick about it and use your judgement. The other people at the table want to play too.

When I play at a spot and one of my friends is in a hand, I will call clock on them if I know that they are beat but don't want to fold a big hand.

 Getting back to the original question, Mike Caro's advice for inducing calls is to talk, fidget, do something, ANYTHING other than stare at your villain. Everyone knows that a staredown is a bluff (strong=weak). But more importantly, you need to give your opponent the excuse she is looking for to make that bad call. So, knock over your chips, jabber away, scratch yourself, whatever. The idea is to draw attention to yourself so she will look at you and come up with her own reason to believe you are bluffing. Caro recommends a brilliant line that I have used effectively: "I may not be bluffing this time!"

I think another thing you don't want to do when talking is taunt your opponent. I think most people read this as a sign of real strength.
