Posting this hand because talking about this with a friend helped me clarify some things so I thought it might be helpful to others.
Playing what is generally a soft $2/$5 game in downtown Manhattan. Player pool is mostly young, professional. Villain in hand is 30-35ish, indeterminate ethnicity -- could be Hispanic, Mediterranean or Arabic, no accent.
I just sat down this orbit and lost $20 in one hand so have $480. I raise from CO to $25 with and everyone behind me calls.
Flop (pot $100):
Checks to me and I bet $50, BTN raises to $125, SB and BB fold.
I instasnapcall. Villain has about $300 behind.
Turn (pot $325):
I check and he checks.
River:
I bet $145 and he calls.

I mentioned in another thread that I talk A LOT during hands and one of the reasons I do it is to slow down my actions. I feel that online, with so much more information available, 90% of spots are snap-something.
I find that in live games if you take a minute or so in big pots, you can garner a lot of info off physical tells. Talking as a reflex stops me from acting quickly and also can elicit more information. I actually have a set of standard responses for specific spots.
In this spot I didn't have a pre-constructed response but I had an immediate plan, which was to check-shove all turns. In retrospect this is pretty bad because I didn't take the time to assess how strong his range for raising this flop is.
On this board, two-pair combos are extremely unlikely, so his range for raising this board against an uncapped range is pretty damn strong: flushes, sets and at worst, something like KxQc.
So I think flatting the flop raise is the worst option. Do we like a CiB or shove to rep something like AcKx or AcAx?

you miss so much value by calling the flop. just jam dont do something stupid like CiB because it's pointless in this spot and if he's at all capable of making hero folds you give him a strong chance to do so.
as played i'd lead the turn it's not very close imo, and as played again I'd bet the river all in

So clearly you think jamming looks weaker than 3-bing smaller... I think I agree.

I said I play this hand the same way I do AcKx. I dunno what fnord is saying. And I would ship AcKx here so I would do the same with the flopped nuts.
