my thoughts: based on the preflop and post flop (before i folded) action, i figured at least one of the other 4 players had pockets bigger than my jacks (AA and KK - yikes!), and QQ or AQ suited seemed a good possibility as well.
so, i gave myself two outs, and if someone had QQ (very conceivable based on the preflop betting), i had no outs.
did i wimp out or make a good fold?
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed)

Flop: (21 SB) 7 , Q , 9 (5 players)

Your fold was perfectly ok here.. Even without looking at the "final outcome", I would have folded it too.
The only reason your second guessing your play here is because a MIRACLE card came on the river. Don't call that much action for a 2-3 outter.
Think about it like this.. What if that river card was a blank instead. Would you be glad you laid it down? Yes, you'd be saying ot yourself.. WHEW, dodged a big one that time.
Calling bets with a pocket pair to 1 over card was pretty big leak of mine.
Often I'd call just to be shown the over pair.

thanks all - just wanted to confirm.
it's definitely a fine line (in limit) between over playing your big pairs, versus letting them go to easily.
it's a journey...

If you had called all the way down, you would be "that fish, who doesnt know where the fold button is" that we all make fun of.

would have been a T and a K (straighting you and leaving a hole for the guy with the chicas)
But anyone with sense would've folded in a second, as you did. So leave the skirt just how it is.
PP bigger than your jacks aren't the only problem. You've gotta suspect all kinds of PPs, so there's a decent chance of any of those cards giving a set.
