What do we know about op?

What hand ranges can you put op on with preflop call?

I don't even know if I wanna waste my time with this hand since he's overbetting the pot and you don't know what cards can come that hurt you. Pushing is an option, since only a set can call.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

I know nothing at all about op, she just came to the table. However, I can tell you there have been a lot of fish hanging around the 600 NL table as of late, making wild bets.

Just fold if you don't know anything about the player. If you're wrong, you lose a small pot, and if you're right you avoid losing a huge one.

I've noticed a lot of fish play often play big pairs like this. They make small raises preflop to try to "suck people in" and then put out ridiculous overbets when they flop their invincible overpair.

She didnt make any raise preflop, she limped and called the raise by someone else.

If I'm wrong I lose the potential to make a lot of money. That lost potential money is definitely the equivelent of losing a big pot.

I mean suppose you call and she has a monster. Then you're down 350$, and yup you lost a big pot and shouldn't have called.

But suppose you don't call and she has garbage. Then you're down very little, but you could have made 350$ (if you had made the right decision) so you're actually down quite a bit more from that poor decision.

My thinking was, she wouldnt limp in EP and call a raise with 34, 84, or 83, so she doesnt have two pair. She would raise pre-flop with a higher pocket pair than 10s (or at least reraise the pre-flop raise), but she just limped in and called the raise. There were no straights or flushes possible with that board. She wouldnt pot-bet right off the bat with a set, thered be nothing to protect against (the board was rainbow). So this left either an open-ended straight draw semi-bluff, a smaller pocket pair, or just a pair and the player was being realy dumb. So I raised..

The rest of the hand:

EvilEcstasy_ raises [$225].
nycpokerstud folds.
>You have options at Table 48825 Table!.
>You have options at Table 48816 Table!.
>You have options at Table 48816 Table!.
demony has left the table.
KathrynMarie is all-In [$171.18]
EvilEcstasy_ calls [$46.18].
** Dealing Turn ** [ Jd ]
** Dealing River ** [ 2d ]
EvilEcstasy_ shows [ Ts, Th ] a pair of tens.
KathrynMarie doesn't show [ 4h, 5h ] a pair of fours.
EvilEcstasy_ wins $634.36 from the main pot with a pair of tens.

PUCCIO19 has left the table.

How does anyone call that reraise? Especially at 600NL. That's just crazy.

Pot odds. She was the 77-23 dog. However, she already had 100$ in the pot, and the pot stood at about 100$. If she goes all in she would have a 23% chance of making 634$, for this she would have to pay 171$

So if she calls:

23% of the time she makes 634$
77% of the time she loses 171$

If she folds:
100% of the time she's even

(This doesnt include the money she's already put in the pot.)

.23*634 + .77*(-171) = 145.82 - 131.67 = +14$ on average for making that decision.

So she actually had pot odds to call against an overpair (which is what I likely held from her point of view). And of course I could just be semi-bluffing, even though its unlikely.

Right, and if you have a set or 2 pair she's fucked. if even one out of 10 times you have 2 pair or a set she is hosed, this is a bad call on her part.

The outcome of a hand doesn't always justify how it was played.
