At the time I had no hands on him and thus no stats, as I had not played with him before like I mentioned, but with the 300 hands I have with him now he is 25/20. I hate folding sets, but what else can he really value-push the turn with? Can't see a solid player having two pair here almost ever. If it's a bluff with air I'd think he'd given up on turn, my line with flat calling both the bet and the reraise on the flop seem strong after all. I did have 22, and I folded, just wanted to know if it might have been too nitty against a guy I have no stats on.

Haha astonishingly, gabe said what I was going to say I'm not sure what else you can call with here. Aces and hope he has kings? I wonder if that's what you had, though 22 and 44 seem more likely - and it seems more likely that holding 22 would cause you to ask this question?

(edit: obv written before I read your response. In a 3-bet pot I think it would have been a call)

IMO, without having any other information on the villian, as played I would call with bottom set. KK or AA or top two (especially if one just hit) may well shove that turn, depending on the player, Q9s is not entirely out of villian's range based on the fact that he is already .25 there preflop. In particular, the way you played the flop almost commits you to the turn bet. One third of your chips are already in there, and you have the 4th nuts at this point. I understand the concern of set over set, but unless he shows you a set, I don't know that you can assume he is better than you, particularly with that board. If the board was more coordinated, then I might be able to get away from three ducks. Here, I don't think I can.

After the raise on the flop, however, I would move my chips to the middle. That is a much easier decision and gets your money in when you are best compared to the board.

And get ready to rebuy.

Hehe, that was a fun session I had at 25/50 yeah. Game selection is probably not my strongest side, I know, but playing in games like that is just something I do now and then for the fun and experience.

I ended up folding 22 in this hand, what do I beat really? I usually raise the flop, but not all the time, and when I chosed to call at first I don't see how pushing over MrSmokeys raise can be a good play vs his range here.
