Villain is unknown, def only playing 1 table… probably very random late-night donk. He snap-called preflop and flop.
What’s my best line on the turn?

5-10 is fun. why do I have to lose 28 buyins in 3 days at limits below 2-5 and 5-10 just as i m about to move up?

Yah its probably hard to get called in this spot without some sort of history, since he probably rarely has Ax, and more likely has like JJ/Tx or some hand like that.

i dont really like shove
given the size you made it preflop, his range shouldnt be flushdraws that much so checking might even be good

I've got to disagree with you here. I don't see how checking will induce a bluff from any other hands than draws, and against those, we certainly don't want to check the turn. I also don't think that a big river bet will be called much more often than a turn shove.

gabe s comment is what made me post the hand since I figured it'd be unlikely for him to have a hand like QJhh or something but rather something like 99 that is drawing dead but will almost always fold turn

checking is fps.
villain is donkey and snapping. this means that his range is wide and unknown, and that he likes his hand. flop should have been bet harder so a turn shove would be more in line with pot size.

He might have 99, but he isn't going to bet it on the river, nor is he going to call a bet more often on the river than on the turn. You want him to improve, but that just isn't going to happen very often. It's hard to put a donk on a range here, but it probably contains some pretty hands like KJs/KQs/QJs, especially after he calls the flop.

I like a turn shove because the board is super drawy with two potential FD's and potential insiders in our range, and we'd much more likely bluff shove the turn than on the river imo.

i think against one tabling late night unknowns a turn check/river bet is going to be called a lot more often. Against regs it's debateable.
Anyways, that being said i bet the turn anyway

yea i think its very close between shoving and checking or betting 1/3 pot...
i would go 100% on timing tells in the heat of the moment

vs this dude i would bet exactly what i bet on the flop. the psychology of folding to the same bet size on the turn as the one you called on the flop is not appealing to any donk. then the river shove will be so small he'll probably snapcall Tx or better out of spite.
