Villain is a laggy reg who doesn’t like to fold to me. At 6-max he runs about 28/20/3 but we haven't played a ton of HU. He’s caught me in big bluffs more than once at lower stakes.

Maybe this is standardo…

Seat 5: HERO (£498 in chips)
Seat 6: Jon040124 (£502 in chips)
Jon040124: posts small blind £2
HERO: posts big blind £5
----- HOLE CARDS -----
dealt to HERO
Jon040124: raises to £15
HERO: calls £10
----- FLOP -----
HERO: checks
Jon040124: bets £20
HERO: raises to £61
Jon040124: calls £41
----- TURN -----
HERO: bets £124
Jon040124: calls £124
----- RIVER -----
HERO: bets £298 and is all-in
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Seems good to me. Flop c/r is standard there for me unless the villain is an utter clown. Turn bet seems good cause you rep a flush easy and he's gonna be calling the flop c/r with some weak hands. river shove seems like the only choice.

Yeah, I don't exactly know what you're trying to represent with the flop checkraise, other than the draw/nuts/air. Are you ever check/raising with AT for value or do you take more pot control lines?

My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

I don't know why you wouldn't check/raise AT, unless you had a dynamic where villain was trying to double-barrel you a lot on this type of board. You're probably close to 60/40 against the range of hands that give you action when you check/raise.

I'm not saying I wouldn't c/r AT, although then again I don't play HU much but I had a feeling OP wouldn't. I agree with your equity estimate against hands that will call, only because I doubt we're going to get a pair to fold without putting in more barrels though.

Against someone who doesn't like to fold i guess I just don't know the reason for check/raising a draw on a drawy board.

Turn and river are fine though as played.

Part of the logic behind check-raising top pair hands heads-up is that it allows you to credibly check-raise as a bluff. If you're always making "pot control" plays with these kinds of hands, you're basically taking this play away from yourself. Once you start making both these plays, check-raising with top pair and as a bluff, your opponent may actually start calling with worse than top pair and so the former play starts to have a fair amount of value.

This seems too aggro on this kind of flop tbh. I think you should be more polarized here.
