This was a hand I thought could be played differently on every street. Villain in the hand is Birdboy, a 23/17 or so (maybe a bit tighter or looser i forget) tag. His defining characteristic was the tendency to float cbets in position with almost anything: two overs, gutters, underpairs, A high, maybe worse and try to win the pot later. He was also a bit less aggro 3betting than most tags and I'd generally say a slightly weaker regular than most at 5/10 but probably a marginal winner. My image should be 23/19 or so and aggressive/capable of making moves. This hand is from about a month ago, but I believe we had gotten AI in a few relatively standard spots in the last 150 hands when this hand occurred, so I would expect a little bit of everything "light" at this point in the session.

I think check/folding flop here is best btw and instantly hated my flop bet after i made it and resolved to double barrel a fair amnt of turn cards vs this player (as I had been check/folding a lot of flops recently vs his compulsive floating). So, comments on all streets welcome as well as a hand range for him on the turn.

Firstly I think pf is just too light versus a guy who is going to mess with you a ton post flop. I'd tighten up a good bit given the circumstances.

I think I could just check fold the flop also because basically his whole range is going to float this particular flop.

Given that you bet the flop I think the turn is the perfect card for you to check/call his steals and get the maximum value from his floats.

Then I just check again on the river and soul read his bet size and timing. I'm most likely calling most bets on most rivers though. I might try to c/r AI on clubs depending on bet size.

Do you think he knows this? It seems theoretically like a really sick strategy to re-adjust the second you start adjusting.

I play like him a lot and this is almost always a bluff but it scares the shit out of taggs

I'd just call and call almost any river. imo the described player here has a HUUUGE range
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

This turn card is a horrible one for him to bluff on so unless you think he's a level ahead of this I fold.

My instinct as well is to fold.
Check out the new blog!!!

This is a very tough spot. First of all I don't mind betting at a flop like this especially against someone who is being annoying and floaty. I've found that when you bet at flops where its likely you both missed and you both know its likely you both missed you can often level them into not playing back and take it down there.

I think that if I had KQ here on the turn I would pretty much always shove because his line screams of a combo draw. I know that I often prefer to take off a card with a hand like 56, Axcc, A6, etc in BoB and then raise on a whiffed turn. By doing this I can generate increased FE,force you to commit to continue, etc, etc. while also being able to extract a lot of value when i hit.

The only problem is youre holding the worst possible queen and b/c he is such a floater it would not surprise me in the least to see him show up with JQ TQ here (probably with the Qc) and be willing to play for stacks (i know i surely would).

I think that with the read on him (lets remember he could still have air here) and that you are anticipating getting it in light, this is a great spot to charge his draws and shove, hoping not to get shown a better Q.

the reason I say shove is that - when I'm in stupid float-and-take-away-on-later-street mode - I'll show up with...like KJ0 or AT or shit like that in this spot.

maybe projecting my donkishness onto unknown isn't helpful but based on your read it sounds like a def possibility.
