Gabe, you scared me for a minute.

Best guess? On the flop raising didn't make sense. When the K turns and op declines to bet, he's pretty much prepared to value bet the river. When the board pairs, he's splitting with any Q so betting is a waste of time.

Precisely.

Maybe he sensed a slow play, but was wrong.

from having played with these 2 players i good bit here is my take. delhume almost always bets on a unraised flop when last to act and usually increases his bets each round. he also has a tendency to push all in a good bit. i flopped a boat against him the other day and simply called his bets all the way until river...at which point we both only had $140 (both started hand with $1000 buy in) and i pushed in. not sure if i play the same against anyone else, but i knew his style. so i feel twin was checking counting on ck-raise on turn, which was'nt bet. and like gorilla said with 3 on river a bet didnt really make much sense.

Do you check-raise every time you make top pair? The pot is going to fly out of control adn you're basically going to have to fold any river if you make it that far.

QJ is not a hand that is likely to improve. If you continually bet pot by the river the pot is going to me > your stack. At this point if you are played at then you really have no option to fold.

By checking the flop he is getting information on his opponents holdings. He is pretty sure his queen is good. The turn comes he checks and there is no bet, and the river just gives him a bad 2 pair no kicker that he'd rather just show down. Any bet he makes on the river that is called, he is surely beat.

Nah, he's been bugging me to write a post about pot control. I tried to write one but got tired of it and just deleted it.
