Actually, no, i'm pretty serious. Had a rather long conversation on vent last night about it and had conflicting answers.

Some say that the way I played it, I should have folded to the all-in bet. My intentions were to get him to put chips in the pot so this thought never even entered my mind.

Others say that if I don't lose a bunch of chips when flopping a set like this then I didn't play it right.

You know I'm a ring player at heart but thought I would ask some advice. I guess next time I wont.

when you included the results it just makes it seem like a bad beat post. you are way ahead of the range is he pushing on this flop. sometimes he will even be drawing dead (and you never will be).

You didn't put an option in for "played g00t". You got all he cheeps in.

Yeah, you would really puke if he checks behind here - but I think any 1-spade bets that flop, so a check is either no spades or made flush.

Well, in a ring game i definately want his chips in and that was my thinking on the flop. I'm used to the whole "win money not pots theme" but I'm sure betting is the best play regardless of the results and him getting his chips in.

Can anyone tell me why in the hell you would put someone on a made flush when the pust AI on the flop like that heads up?

I would be far more suspicious of a pot sized bet.

My read is As blank or something like As4 or an overpair.

I call and pray for boat and/or no spades.

Sorry if I offended you Jeff. Making the call for all your chips here is a very very +EV In fact I would assume your ahead here 90%+ of the time. I would actually lead the flop tho.

Most players expect you to bet whenever you have either nothing or a marginal hand in these situations, so when you don't bet they become suspicious. As a result you will usually just be giving a free card, which is exactly what you don't want with top set on a three flush board.

I'd bet pot on the flop, be happy with a fold, and if reraised all in I'd call.

The worst situation you can imagine, you are 30% to make a full house and bust him. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to put a dude on an ace high flush headsup in a tourney situation.

Actually the play you made wasn't bad if the opponent is very aggressive. Otherwise it's very wrong, because you won't get a high spade out in this situation by a pot bet of the flop.
No limit Hold'Em - hours of boredom followed by moments of sheer terror.
