Villain is 23/18 (FR) with 3bet 11% and plays all sorts of garbage from every position. Seen him open A8s utg 9 handed. Fairly passive postflop.

I thought the flop hits my range pretty hard and I've got some equity with an overcard and runner draws. I turn a gutshot and expect to see a free river, but wtf he bets half pot. I was just about to press the fold button when I decided I'm not going to let this fly.

He simply doesn't hit flops that hard with his garbage and it sure doesn't look like he has the nuts or anything.

Then we should consider the fact that why on earth would I not bet this turn with a big hand?

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $10.00 BB (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

MP2 ($3633.35)
MP3 ($3413.50)
CO ($1142)
Button ($324)
SB ($372)
Hero (BB) ($1107)
UTG ($1000)
UTG+1 ($1734)
MP1 ($334.20)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, Q
3 folds, MP2 raises to $25, 1 fold, CO calls $25, 2 folds, Hero calls $15

Flop: ($80) 6, 5, K (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $24, CO calls $24, Hero raises to $125, MP2 calls $101, 1 fold

Turn: ($354) J (2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $209, Hero raises to $957 (All-In)...

I'm an idiot right?

I can't imagine him betting a hand here that he's willing to fold. He'd check back hands he's worried about.

I'd rather just fire the turn than c/r. It also doesn't help that people view the double c/r line as bluffy, cause then you're even more likely to get called.

His line is a joke too though. I mean wtf does he cbet 24 into 80, call a c/r and then bet the turn with? About the only hand that makes any sense is KJ.

He folded very fast so I guess he was on some weird float as I suspected. Or then he did have KJ and made the worst fold in pkr history, but I doubt it.

Why not just bet the turn if you think he's weak? If you didn't turn the insider, you're more or less likely to bet the turn?

I generally don't like pounding on players who look weak when they know they look weak.

Something like 7c8c has 21 outs. He might also fold his paired combos although I doubt he bets them.

this is the silliest thing ive ever heard. you get to the turn, check, the ship because of the 78cc!?!? wtffffff.

i mean this hand is an absolute trainwreck, ive yet to see anyone in the history of the world who is long term profitable making huge bluffs with low equity OOP in a FR game. you are just burning money in an especially fun way

i know you're asking about postflop, but preflop seems like a textbook squeeze situation if you have such little faith in his range

This is a golden statement. How villain perceives your FE is very important.

A wise man learns from his own mistakes, and those of the smart man and the fool.
