Villain in both hands is one of the best LAG regulars at the tables. He's running 28/24/3.5. He 3-bets and barrels constantly and is totally fearless.
HAND 1:
---------------------------------
Table down to 4-handed so it's even more aggro than usual. Preflop is marginal, but I'm just not going to keep folding to this guy every time I raise. KQs IP good enough for me, let's play. I usually fold KQs to a 3-bet, is this a standard defend (IP) for anyone?
Anyone just calls the flop? It's a given that another barrel is coming on the turn, at least if he has nothing.
Seat 4: SB ($1,099.45 in chips)
Seat 6: BB ($1,593.75 in chips)
Seat 7: HERO [ KD,QD ] ($984.00 in chips)
Seat 8: BUTTON ($455.65 in chips)
ANTES/BLINDS
SB posts blind ($5), BB posts blind ($10).
PRE-FLOP
HERO bets $35, BUTTON folds, SB folds, BB bets $115, HERO calls $90.
FLOP [board cards 7H,8C,KH ]
BB bets $205, HERO?...
HAND 2:
---------------------------------
CUTOFF is the same villain as in hand 1, but table is 5-handed again. This is just 2 minutes later (results from hand 1: I shoved, he folded). I didn't see any compelling reason to bet anywhere. Too passive? He will certainly put it in with a good draw on the flop, but he knows how to fold made hands when faced with resistance.
Seat 4: BB ($1,109.45 in chips)
Seat 5: UTG ($1,265.50 in chips)
Seat 6: CUTOFF ($1,258.75 in chips)
Seat 7: HERO [ JD,JC ] ($1,302.00 in chips)
Seat 8: SB ($420.65 in chips)
ANTES/BLINDS
SB posts blind ($5), BB posts blind ($10).
PRE-FLOP
UTG folds, CUTOFF bets $35, HERO calls $35, SB folds, BB folds.
FLOP [board cards 2H,10D,8D ]
CUTOFF bets $65, HERO calls $65.
TURN [board cards 2H,10D,8D,4D ]
CUTOFF bets $160, HERO calls $160.
RIVER [board cards 2H,10D,8D,4D,QS ]
CUTOFF bets $400, HERO calls $400...

1) I call here always, especially if he likes to barrel
2) I play it the same

1) I defend pre vs. this guy. I think calling the cbet and pushing both have merits. But I'm not folding after calling pre.
2) I like 3betting pre vs. this guy because I would be 3betting him with a lot of junk and need to balance. As played pre I probably play it the same post. I don't hate a flop raise either.

Changed my mind about 2...
Forgot to mention I 3bet JJ vs him almost always when CO/BTN. Since you flatted pf I see alot of merit in raising this flop.

Hand 1: I hate shoving here. He sounds really aggro, and I'd imagine you'd peel this flop with a lot of pairs on the flop as well, assuming he'll bet the K. I call here almost 100% and I also call with a lot of other pairs
Hand 2: Depends on your reads on how he reacts to 3-bets OOP. If he's folding a lot, I may flat this. Though I'd probably 3-bet pre pretty often. As played, its good.

I prefer a polarized range for IP 3-bets vs this guy who is almost never calling the 3-bet OOP and will 4-bet light with a high frequency. I guess we need to shove this if he makes a 4-bet, but it's very very marginal. If we are folding to the 4-bet, then this is absolutely the wrong hand to 3-bet (lol @ folding though).
If we flat, we have his range crushed AND we have position. If we flop a set we should get it in very often by calling down most boards and shoving river. Sure, dealing with overcards won't be easy, but having position will help.

Yeah, I see a lot of merit in raising too and can't really decide which one is better here.

Hand 1: Standard call-down. Let him bluff off more money because I doubt he's bad enough to call lots of money with a worse hand.
Hand 2: More inclined to raise here because there is more money behind (want to define hands) and your hand is a lot more vulnerable. Pick a street and go with it.

1- i defend this hand in position on a regular basis but not all the time. Id shove flop because i would shove so much on this flop that id expect to get fistpump called by worse.
2- vs a good lagg i would be looking to stack off preflop or on the flop, and as played i like a fold on the river....unless this guy is really like a 20 Buck Spin type lagg in which case id be calling.

Stupid unclean hand histories. Yeah, after looking again at the pot size, I don't hate a shove as much, certainly not if you have a well balanced range shoving back here. Without that image going on, I think I'd rather try to induce a second barrel.

I think a shove or call on the flop of hand 1 is fully dependent on history and how you play your marginal hands in this spot. If I'd float AQ and flat 88 in this spot, I'd probably flat my KQ as well.

id flat the KQ one mostly and almost always defend it tho raising small/shoving would be maybe 50/25/25 in terms of my freq but given dynamic calling is def best
i think u can still have a polarized range if JJ is just in that part of ur range which u call/jam/get it in iwht preflop
as played u have the stone nuts on the flop so u should raise 75/25 or something like that and call river
