This is a very interesting hand, namely because I was having a hard time deciding how to correctly play it. First the hand in question as it played out:

EvilEcstasy_ shows [ Js, Qs ] two pairs, queens and eights.
EvilEcstasy_ wins $448 from the main pot with two pairs, queens and eights.

Now the question I'm asking myself here, is why should I play this hand passively like I did? My reasoning was as follows:

If I bet into him, I would have a hard time folding to a raise. My opp is a known aggressive player, so I didnt want to be raised and put to a decision for all my chips just on top pair. But if I checked, I could see a cheaper showdown. The board was fairly drawless, so I figured he probably had 4 or less outs on me (in this case he had 3 outs), or had me beat. I thought he would try to bluff me out if he didnt have something better than me. Hence the passive play.

Good lines here? How would you have played this hand?

What do you d ofacing the $125 bet if an Ace comes on the river...?

I would have probably thrown in a good bet on the flop.
Your check/call after raising is weird. I would not have bet into you if I were villain, fearing a donkey trying to slowplay QQ or such.
I see this silly raise/check a lot, and it is often a bad slowplay.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

If an ace or king shows on the river I call. I pay him off. But he's drawing to a 3-outer here, so the odds are defintely in my favor. And he bets on the river regardless of whether he hits.

Now you bet on the flop and he raises. Now what?
