10/20 weak KK line

Main villain was new to the table but I recognized him being one of the ok regulars of the game, I am new to the games on pacific so no real reads. The dynamics at the table was rather calm me being slightly the biggest aggressor, nothing drastically hadnt really happened, especially PF.

I am sure most of you are saying you gotta 4-bet that KK pf and often I do. Please just state the reasons for it in this particular hand. Also after seeing the flop like this anybody like a flop lead? CR? c/c? why?

not the best flop, you go from 1 hand that beats you (AA) to alot more (TT, JJ, AKh coinflip, AA, and only legitimate hand you actually beat is QQ)... Still very hard to lay down, but I know your advantage is big in these games cause you are a very skilled player, and I think a fold was a disciplined choice as you can get your money in when you're SURE you're ahead later.

I know this is a weird and a stupid play but here is my reasoning. I hate 4-betting PF here because only AA calls and worse ones fold, there are a lot of other hands that I would rather 4-bet with besides KK. On the flop there is about 50% chance I might be ahead but since there are a lot of draws if the villain is aggressive enough he can easily push me out here because I wont play for stacks here. Still, I think that c/c and then c/f from turn would've been the best play as I dont think that many worse hands fire again given how the villain will perceive my hand.

I like your play preflop, but I think a c/c is in order here because you have the King of hearts and the turn can make your strong hand that much stronger. Villain has the full buy-in making this a proper flop call given the action IMO. A queen of hearts on the turn would sure make this cool hand even more l interesting

It does indeed look like you're up against AA though. Hmm..tough one.

I play a lot at pacific, and unless u were playing against a real tighty, u made a terrible laydown. He could easily hold AK. or QQ, or J8. Yes he could have AA, or a set, but if u were worried about that I suggest betting out on the flop to see where you are at. If you tell me the villains username I can tell you if it was a good laydown.

You have to. Your edge is not big enough that you can avoid playing for stacks. Or at least, mine isn't. Are you playing out of your bankroll? Or have you decided to not play for stacks for some other reason? I think I like a 4bet preflop, but I'm fine with just calling, provided you bet out the flop to see where you are at. The ONLY reason to play passive on the flop is if you feel your opponent will bet any hand here and you feel there is value in checkraising or check calling if he's a total crazy.

i think, in general, this thought process is a mistake for a couple reasons, although its fine to occasionally smooth call it preflop. if only AA gets allin preflop then you should find some softer games, or make alot more squeeze plays preflop.

Aquinas, the villain in this hand was jtchamp. I have only played in that game for like 2k hands but it looks like I really have an edge there. And I do have the BR for the game.

Gabe, I would rather 4-bet with AA, AK, JJ, TT and Ax than KK and QQ here for the reasons stated above if I havent done 4-betting previously in that session.

My play was horrendous, just looking for some comments how to play this hand, the dynamics was rather calm, in crazier games this hand plays itself much easier. I have been playing really scared OOP lately, and I dont know why. I will post another scared overpair hand in another thread.
