Villain is m_reed, who i've played with a bit. Solid player who i think is capable of folding a hand like AJ here (i don't know he will but i think he might). I kind of doubt he'll slowplay a big flush on this turn but might call a small one. From the 100 hands i've played with him this time he see's me as very aggressive.

When i played this hand i thought i'd get a lot of FE on the turn but planned to give up the river. Should i shove here with reads?

The only problem I see with c/c this hand on this particular board, is that villain can check back the turn, and if the river blanks he can convince himself to call any lead we make on the river SOOO light (A high) putting us on a missed draw.

I'd rather lead flop than c/c here I think. At least we can make sure to put 3 streets of pressure on him.

I don't see what is so bad about c/r this flop though, assuming that we think we can successfully rep diamonds on later streets..?

Will someone explain why c/c >> c/r please? Unfortunately c/c flop with a gutshot is just not something I do really, I'm finding it hard to imagine tons for good bluffing spots we can find on the turn and river if we do c/c.

Irish- by c/r flop you put more money in the pot with a gutshot than by c/c

the idea is just to win the pot as much as we can against the btn's air, we dont want to take him off a single legit hand unless one of the obvious draws completes

Are you in a HU mindset? We've got decent equity for a c/c assuming villain plays a lot of hands and cbets a lot. A c/r will be floated or reraised often and you're going to have a hard time putting more money in profitably. Compare your equity before the turn between a floated c/r and a c/c, now add to that all your lost equity for the times you need to fold on the flop (which is never for a c/c). We've also got plenty of good bluffing opportunities on the river in case the turn goes c-c.

In a nutshell, there's little point in building a big pot here, but we need to pray for turn c-c.
