This was a small pot, but I think I played it well and used my position to win the pot. Reads were not too sharp since I was multitabling at the moment. His continuation bet on the flop screamed weakness, but I didn't want to reraise because I've seen some players pull that kind of bet w/ a monster like KK. So by smooth calling, and hoping the other player would fold, I would make my decision on the turn of whether he actually had a hand or if I could steal the pot right there. If he bets harder, he probably has a hand and puts me on a flush draw and I will have to fold, but if he checks, the pot is mine.

I HATE when people play this way against me (smooth call my continuation bet and make a big raise on my turn bet when I'm out of position) -- therefore I think it's a really good play. Only thing -- what if he reraises you allin? Next time making the same play against this guy or other aware players at the table, you better have the goods.

One question -- what if he bets 5 instead of super-weak 2 on the turn? Make the same play? If I'm firing a double-barreled bluff, I always bet more on the turn (usually 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot), depending on reads of course.

The key to this play I think is sensing weakness in the opponents post flop continuation bet (and position is a must). For this hand, it played out perfectly because I was actually repping the jack on the turn. My $5 bet into an $11 pot screamed for a call. If villian was a tight player, I could've easily got him to lay down an overpair here.

And in reply to your post, face, if villian shows any sign of strength on the turn I will fold automatically. Basically using this play is a cheaper way of getting a read on an opponent. Instead of reraising on the flop which would typically cost you about 3x-4x the continuation bet, you can smooth call, and bet the turn w/ a more solid read and greater chance of taking the pot down.
