Two hands with completely different outcomes. The first hand I figured I was beat, but just couldn't throw it away. The second hand I figured I've got a real good chance to pull it down and I get slapped down.

To set the stage...for the first hand I had been on the table for about 7 hands. Didn't have much of a read on anybody. The average pot size for the first 6 hands I was there was over $10....one was $30.50. So it was a real action table for a $25NL full ring.

First Hand.....I'm in the big blind and catch QQ. It comes around to me with a $1.00 raise so I just call from the BB. Thought about raising, but decided to play it slow. Then all hell broke loose. Check it out....

The AI bet by seat 9 I felt was a blind steal. The call by seat 1 had me concerned, but his comment that he thought it was going to be a heads up with the earlier AI made me think he was on a middle pair. The call by seat 4 scared....I figured he had me beat but with about $59 in the pot I figured my pot odds were good. My call put $73.50 in the pot for the flop. I told everyone I had pocket Qs to get a reaction before the flop. Seat one didn't believe me. When the rainbow flop came I wasn't worried about the flush but a straight was still a concern. I figured with that flop I probably have second best hand to Seat 4, but I'm getting everybody's money in on this one....so I go AI. Seat raises AI but he didn't have to. I still felt I had him beat. I figured Seat 4 would call and he did.....so I still thought I was gonna get 2nd best on this big pot. Didn't figure 4th street helped any body, but when the J hit on the river I was concerned about a straight kicking me out. WOW! could not believe my Ladies held up.

I'm not real good on figuring pot odds....still need work. Was I correct in the $17+ call preflop? And what about my raise.....would you have made that bet?

Here is hand #2....this happened about 25-30 hands later. I'm on the button and Seat #1 raises to .50 in EP. I put him on 2 face cards and call with my suited connectors -- 10J. Got 2 other calls ahead of me and the BB calls. Flop gives me A high flush with only the Q out to beeat me. BB bets $3....does he have Qx for the flush? Seat 1 calls....what the hell does he have. Seat 4 and 5 call.....geez....are all these guys fishing? I'm not folding this puppy now....I figure I'll take the chance that one of these guys has Qx hearts. Turn comes with the 5. BB jumps all in....did he hit a boat? Seat 1 calls....what's going on? Seat 4 and 5 fold, so now I'm trying to figure out what these guys have. I've got a shot for a Royal, but I'm thinking one of these guys have a boat. Stubborn me.....I'm not tossing this A high flush so I call. I figure the 9h on the river is not significant cause I think we all have our hands on the turn. The $6.75 raise by Seat 1 should have thrown up red flags, but I'm pot committed at this point. The 5 on the turn was a killer. Would have been very sweet to catch the Qh on the river....lol.

wow i wish i could play at a table like this...someone pushes AI with 2-pair on a board with 4 hearts.

1st Hand : Do not limp this hand, ever. You want to weed out all those Ax hands so you can either go heads up or challenge 2-3 players. If he re-raises your raise preflop, consider what he may be holding. Is the guy clueless or does he re-raise with the goods? You were lucky 2 of them were sharing aces, otherwise QQ might not hold up 4-handed.

2nd Hand : I might have considered re-raising on the flop, because it seems like anyone would call even with just a pair. Also, you might get a fold from someone holding a Qh x. When the 5 comes on the turn, I might be a little worried about the full house, A5 seems very possible.

Thanks fujanl....yea....not sure why the guy push AI with A8o when the flop hits 3 hearts. He's probably thinking he can represent the flush and scare people off. Picked the wrong time to do it.

1st hand....I generally would not limp QQ. My thinking was that I'm in the BB and the raise is to $1 so just called. I wanted to see the flop and if no A or K then bet it big. They beat me to it. But it worked out for the best.

2nd hand....I seriously considered raising on the flop and probably should have. But I figured I had very strong hand and the betting was coming anyway. When the 5 hit I did consider the full house, but I was not getting off of the hand at that point.

Thanks for your comments.

2nd hand ..... flush31192 called an AI on the turn. He is not in the least bit scared by the possible flush on the board. He could have raised AI at this point but he wanted you to call. At this point I would have put him on Qh9h or A5 and most likely folded (easy to say that now )
Think i would be making a big raise on the flop.

Sinky.....isn't hindsight wonderful.....lol. I'm wondering if any of you would have really folded the flopped flush? Especially with an opportunity to catch the Royal. Huge longshot I know. I found it ironic that I won hand #1 when I didn't think I was going to, and lost hand #2 when I thought I would win it. By the way....I completely agree I should have made a large raise on the flop. At that point, flush31192 had trip 5s, but I'm not sure he would have gotten away from them if I made a big raise on the flop.

I love this game and the little things that could have changed a hand one way or another.

Thanks for your comments Sinky.

Hand one Raise strong when it gets to you. You can't take QQ post flop into a multiway pot out of position and expect anything good to happen.

Hand two You're last to act on the flop and everyone has called into your non nut flush. PUSH

You mean the revolver, sir?

Hand 1 - definitely push preflop, but I've seen UTG make this move w/AA/KK/AK(limp and reraise AI). Not sure I'd call the AI here after you just called.

Your losing hand 2 either way(he's not folding his set), but you gotta push that flop with that action.
