It was an $11 tourney and I had been getting enough hands to stay afloat but not make a huge impact. Just gotten into the money and a few hands previous I had been up able to jump from 10k to 30k in chips. Then this hand came along....

** Summary **

Main Pot: 71916 | Side Pot 1: 8188 | Side Pot 2: 43205
Board: [ As 7c Ad 8s 9d ]

CAMELKILLER had ATs - Three of a kind.
Squanjox had AKo - Three of a kind.

Should I have just dumped the Kings? Squanjox had been going AI PF for a few hands and the general mood of the tourney was that if you had A/Kx it was good enough to risk your whole stack with. I figured that I was at worst up against a pair and suited connectors (Big stack had previously bet 10K just to push out everyone else to win 5K so I didn't see him really having much).

A terrible gamble or just unlucky that it ended up going as far as it did?

Do this: it should clear up any thought that you should have folded preflop.
