Would anyone have played it differently? I put him on KJ for some reason. Definitely not KK since no preflop raise. Guess it would've been wiser to check the river. Maybe I was getting tired...it's not a huge hand, but I feel like a donkey.

He may have put you on aces and just wanted to lose the least on the hand if he could.

This is an easy check/show on the river. What do you expect to get called with here, a weaker jack? Too dangerous a board to extract from a weaker kicker. Be happy he checked and take the showdown.

You played it great until then. He limped from SB with KK, so he messed up your read. No way to put him on that. You had to feel like you were good if no flush was out there. The key is that a person chasing the 4 flush isn't giving you any more money anyway.

Previous to 5th street, you were charging an opponent to draw (and he was kinda while beating you too). After that, you're charging an opponent to show down a weaker hand on a three suited, paired board!. The only hands you have beat that possibly pay for showdown are KJ, QJ, and possibly JT. Better two pairs and overpairs call, and a set to house raises you hard.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
